Gliwice: they have rebuilt the connector, creating a walking lane

This proves that green interventions can be implemented even at a considerable distance from the city centre. The City Hall of Gliwice boasted about the reconstruction of a connector in Ostropa. Until recently, the sandy road was transformed into a green alley with benches.

Ostropa is a district of Gliwice, which is located on the outskirts of the city. It is dominated by cosy buildings with single-family houses, and the dense urban development is criss-crossed by numerous trails, making it easy to reach the main street. The village of Ostropa was fully incorporated into Gliwice in 1975.

A few days ago, the Municipal Roads Management in Gliwice announced the completion of work on the construction of a connector between Daszyńskiego and Architektów streets. The modest route underwent a real metamorphosis. Instead of a sandy road, residents can now enjoy a paved surface and rest in an arranged pocket park.

In addition to new vegetation, the link has gained urban furniture – benches, bicycle racks, lanterns and a chess table. Trees, flowers and ornamental grasses were planted. Today, the following plants can be found here: Schubert’s cherimoya, kalina, marvellous bush, coneflower, hydrangea, helleborine, anemone, fungus and serviceberry.

The reconstruction of the link is important for the local community. This route is used by children walking to school and by commuters. The changes were requested by the Ostropa district councillors themselves. The reconstruction was carried out by PRUiM S.A. Gliwice.
