Green marble, concrete and warm wood tones. This interior is a true work of art

Elena Alexopoulos and Jonathan Stene are a duo of architects who have recently entered the Parisian design scene with new energy and fresh vision. Working in the heart of one of the world’s most beautiful capitals, they founded their own agency, STENE ALEXOPOULOS, which focuses on craftsmanship and innovative approaches to living spaces. Their latest project, called Marie Stuart, is a perfect reflection of this philosophy. Green marble, concrete and warm wood tones are its main features.

A 1940s flat reinvented

Marie Stuart is a flat located in a 1940s building in the 2nd district of Paris. A comprehensive renovation, carried out by STENE ALEXOPOULOS, has transformed this space into a true work of art. The design was inspired by the work of Carlo Scarpa – the Italian master of architecture and design – which is reflected in the attention to detail and the use of natural materials. Every element of the interior was carefully designed and adapted to the unique dimensions of the flat.

Harmonious colour palette

The colour palette of the project is based on the natural tones of the materials used in the arrangement. Warm tones of walnut wood, green marble from India, raw concrete and solid oak parquet dominate. This choice provides a harmonious look to the space, combining modernity with tradition.

One of the highlights of the flat is the cast-in-place concrete table with an elegant green marble inlay. This unusual piece of furniture is the focal point of the living room and emphasises the artisanal character of the design. In addition to the table, the suite features artisan chairs imported from Skyros Island, stucco from Florence and vintage furniture such as classic Eames chairs and spherical Grundig speakers. Completing the interior are artworks, including a painting by Fassianos, and a sofa from Roche Bobois.

A personalised interior full of craftsmanship

Each element of the interior of Marie Stuart’s flat is a unique prototype, customised for this particular space. Local craftsmanship was used in the design, working with experienced artisans. Particularly noteworthy are the locally carved washbasin and bench, which combine functionality with artistic expression.
