Hanna Pietras presents the latest realisation. It is a tribute to craftsmanship!

Hanna Pietras does not design interiors – she creates stories. Her latest project is a tribute to craftsmanship, history and thoughtful functionality. The space was inspired by a single, unique piece of furniture – a family table – which set the rhythm for the entire project.

Contemporary interiors are increasingly taking inspiration from the past, creating a unique combination of modern functionality and nostalgia for times gone by. One such project is a 79 m² flat designed by Hanna Pietras and her team: Aleksandra Pluta and Małgorzata Kowalczyk-Wiankowska. The key element of the concept was the family table – a piece of furniture that set the stylistic direction of the entire arrangement.

“The table is the heart of the home. It gives rhythm to everyday life, brings people and memories together. In this project, it was the starting point for the entire interior composition,” – says Hanna Pietras.

Reorganising the space

In order for the flat to fully reflect the personality of its owner, it was necessary to rearrange the functional layout. The kitchen took the place of the living room, and the bedroom was placed in the place of the original study. Such changes made it possible to create an open, but harmoniously divided space, in which every element has its place.

“The most important thing for us was to find a balance between aesthetics and functionality. We wanted the interior not only to be beautiful, but also to meet the needs of the residents on a daily basis,” emphasises the architect.

Hanna Pietras and her combination of old and new

The design captivates with a subtle play of contrasts. The dark wood of the furniture is juxtaposed with the cool, pale blue shade of the kitchen units. The rich colour of the old table is perfectly displayed against the whitewashed marble with its delicate grey streaks. In turn, the glazed, illuminated porcelain display cabinets in a burgundy shade lend the interior a warm and cosy feel.

“We do not pretend to have a stoneware style here, but rather refer to its spirit – noble materials, distinctive accents and attention to detail, ” notes Pietras.

In addition to its functionality, the flat impresses with its wealth of detail. In the hall, there is a spacious wardrobe made of chekhot veneer, which not only conceals clothes but also divides the space, giving it intimacy. The floor is decorated with tiles alluding to the style of pre-war Łódź townhouses. The dining room was accented with a turquoise hue, while the study received the decorative Frutto Proibito wallpaper by Cole & Son.

“An flat is not just a space, it’s a story about its owner. We try to make each project unique, just as the stories within it are unique, ” concludes Hanna Pietras.

‘This project proves that a harmonious combination of the past and the present can create an interior that is both elegant and comfortable. Thanks to the attention to detail and the skilful combination of styles, the space has become not only a functional place to live, but also a reflection of the personality of its inhabitants.
