The project was prepared by Tymon Kupczyk, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology. The Tyvert Tower project, located on Lot 52 at 510 Guadalupe Street in Austin, Texas, is a groundbreaking architectural proposal that redefines approaches to urbanism, sustainability and human-centred design. Tyvert Tower combines the author’s personal commitment with deep historical and cultural analysis and a sophisticated architectural vision.
Context of place
The origins of the project stem from the fascinating history of the site, which has seen decades of untapped potential. A post office building was built there in 1996, which quickly attracted controversy for its unattractive appearance and waste of space in the city centre. As a result, the plot remained empty for years, symbolising the need for thoughtful architectural design standards. The Tyvert Tower project aspires to restore this space to residents and make it a model of contemporary urbanism.
Multifunctionality in a vertical structure
The skyscraper combines residential, office and commercial functions, offering a dynamic ecosystem that responds to the needs of diverse users. Adaptable spaces guarantee flexibility of use and adaptability to changing social demands. From luxurious offices to modern flats to commercial zones, each space has been designed with harmony between efficiency and comfort in mind.
Tyvert Tower uses cutting-edge green technologies such as vertical gardens, green roofs and energy-efficient systems to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Green spaces distributed throughout the structure not only improve aesthetics, but also contribute to air quality and thermal comfort. Smart infrastructure ensures the sustainability of the building, making it resilient to climate and environmental changes.
Shaping urban identity
The project’s proximity to city focal points such as 6th Street and Republic Square emphasises its key role in Austin’s socio-economic landscape. Public spaces, including gardens and shared terraces, encourage human interaction, reinforcing a sense of community and quality of life in the city.
The design draws inspiration from the work of Mies van der Rohe, Norman Foster and Thomas Heatherwick, offering an innovative combination of structural efficiency and aesthetic expression. In addition, references to the art of León Ferrari and Zdzislaw Beksinski give the facade and interior spaces a unique character.
Tyvert Tower is not just a skyscraper; it is a manifesto of modern, responsible architecture. The project is an example of how high-rise construction can fit harmoniously into an urban context, responding to the needs of the environment and the community.
