It is familiar to everyone and can be defined in different ways, but it is most often associated with something pleasant. The theme of the 28th issue of whiteMAD is HEAT. On the following pages, we find out that this word acquires different meanings when it is discussed by people connected with the world of fashion, architecture and design. How is it understood by the protagonists of this issue?
In the ‘Fashion’ section, the first topic already seems to be heating up. It is the editorial ‘From The Ashes’. The photos taken by Gabi Gruszka exude a sunny glow and carry a profound message. The SKIAZ collection designed by Zofia Barszczowska is perversely about warmth; the photographs taken in a winter setting remind us of the warming activity on the slopes. We also publish the graduation project by Sandra Nikuna, a graduate of the International School of Costume and Fashion Design.

In the ‘Architecture’ section, we describe interiors and buildings in which we have noticed elements of warmth. Examples include a wood-clad flat in Wrocław designed by the 3XEL studio, a flat in the Lazarus district of Poznań designed by LBWA, and a sun-bathed flat in Gdańsk designed by Milena Kulczycka and Julia Podsiadło. We also found warm accents in the interior designed by Magdalena Statnik and Oskar Włodarek of MO Architekci.
A collection of furniture by Daniel Kołodziejczak tells the story of warmth encapsulated in an object. The designer, who lives in Italy, has used stones to decorate the furniture like jewellery. On the following pages of the “Design” section, you will find an overview of Polish projects and various definitions of warmth by representatives of the creative industries.
The issue concludes with an interview with illustrator Przemek Sokołowski, who created the graphics published in the magazine especially for us.
