A home garden should be designed so that it can be enjoyed all year round. In summer, a swimming pool provides respite on hot days, while in autumn and winter, the pathways encourage strolling and the discovery of architecture with a sculptural form. Such is the Hidden Garden, designed by Przemysław Cepielik of Eklekt Atelier.
The investors’ dream garden is intended to give them a sense of privacy. Hence the name of the entire project. The architects from the Eklekt Atelier studio decided to breathe new life into a green space that had previously been neglected.
The team’s task was to design a green oasis adapted to the needs of the new residents. The designers left the valuable old trees in place and positioned the new elements in such a way as not to harm the existing greenery. Before the redevelopment, there was a swimming pool in the centre of the garden. It was modest and needed to be enlarged. In the new concept, the pool is the heart of the garden and, by surrounding it with stones, appears as a pond. Water was of great importance in the design. It not only has a decorative function, but also enables the residents to relax and enjoy themselves.
In the design, the architects used natural materials such as stone and metal, which influenced the distinct character of the entire establishment. The garden is modern and at the same time has a rustic charm. The walking paths are paved with stone. However, you will not find evenly cut patterns here. And that is a good thing! This makes the garden look very natural.
This project not only reminds us of the beauty of nature, but also inspires us to create harmonious places where man and nature coexist in symbiosis,” says Przemysław Cepielik.
A garden designed in this way will change its face at any time of the year. In autumn, the surface of the water will be decorated with colourful leaves, in winter the landscape will take on a mountainous character, only to burst out again in spring with the power of green. The residents will be able to admire these changes every day from the windows of their homes.
In preparing the project, the architects from Eklekt Atelier have shown that garden design is their speciality. However, the studio also successfully realises private and public interior designs. An example is a flat in Kraków, which won the
silver A’ Design Award in the interior and exhibition design category in 2022. It is a 66 sq m space that the architects filled with streamlined shapes, achieving a cosy space. We wrote more about this project HERE.
