How does back to school 2024 look? Calendar for the 2024/2025 school year

Summer is slowly coming to an end, and this means that the time for going back to school is approaching. The 2024/2025 school year promises to be an interesting one, so it’s worth familiarising yourself with the most important information now. In this article, you will find information about the most important dates in the school calendar and tips for preparing your child for the return to school.

Teaching and learning activities start on 2 September

In almost all schools, with theexception of colleges, teaching and learning activities already start on Monday 2 September 2024. And what does the 2024/2025 calendar look like?

School year calendar 2024/2025

  • First day of school: 2 September 2024 (Monday)
  • Winter holiday break: 20 January – 2 February 2025.
  • Winter holiday dates:
    • Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Małopolskie, Świętokrzyskie and Wielkopolskie Voivodeships: 20 January – 2 February 2025.
    • Podlaskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeships: 27 January – 9 February 2025.
    • Lower Silesian, Mazovian, Opole and West Pomeranian Voivodeships: 3 – 16 February 2025.
    • Lubelskie, Łódzkie, Podkarpackie, Pomorskie and Śląskie Provinces: 17 February – 2 March 2025.
  • Spring break: 3 – 16 March 2025.
  • Eighth-grade exam: The exact date is not yet known, but is likely to take place in May 2025.
  • End of the school year and end of teaching and learning activities: 20 June 2025 (Friday)

The calendar does not apply to the highest programme classes of general secondary schools, technical secondary schools, upper secondary industrial schools and general secondary schools for adults. It is also not an academic calendar.

How do you prepare for back to school 2024?

In order to have a successful new school year, it is advisable to prepare well for it now. Therefore, equipment should not be forgotten. What to buy?

  • A comfortable and capacious rucksack – Make sure the rucksack has enough compartments and is ergonomic so that it does not put a strain on the child’s spine.
  • Pencilcase with writingutensils Make sure there are pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners and coloured markers. Crayons and pencils are also useful.
  • Notebooks and notebooks – Choose line and grid notebooks, depending on your child’s needs, and notebooks to record important information.
  • Art accessories – Crayons, paints, brushes, scissors, glue – everything needed for art class.
  • P.E. attire – Comfortable sports shoes and breathable clothes to keep you comfortable during exercise.
  • Lunchbox and bidon – Practical containers for second breakfast and drinks. Choose models that are easy to clean.
