It is only 35 square metres in size. This small flat in Krakow was designed by architects from the REWEL STUDIO. The project showsthat even a compact space can become a fully-fledged, harmonious interior if it is based on consistently selected materials and a calm colour palette.
The design is based on earth tones, warm beiges and natural wood, which together create an atmosphere of gentleness and order. From the entrance, the eye is drawn to the uniform floor laid in a classic herringbone pattern, which runs throughout the flat and reinforces the impression of cohesion. The walls are covered with a decorative, distressed texture in a sandy shade, creating a soft background for the woodwork and subtly diffusing the light.
Living area – proportion and light
The open-plan living area has been designed to combine functionality with visual lightness. A wooden table made by a local carpenter was placed against the wall, right next to a large mirror that visually doubles the space and enhances the access of natural light. It is accompanied by soft-lined oak chairs from take me HOME, and the whole is complemented by a lamp with a white, layered shade – a delicate modernist accent.
The seating area consists of a compact sofa by Ramaro with distinctive stitching that emphasises its form. Behind it, a vertical panel of dark imitation wood transitions into open shelves. This element organises the composition of the wall and introduces a clear structure that contrasts with the soft finish of the plaster. Opposite is a minimalist TV cabinet in a light finish, visually floating above the floor. Limiting the number of visible elements and concealing some of the functions in the built-in furniture has allowed the space to remain clear.
Kitchen – elegance without excess
The kitchenette has a two-colour composition, combining dark lower cabinets with a distinctive wood pattern with upper fronts in beige, decorated with a delicate milling cutter. The light Technistone conglomerate worktop and matching wall create a calm backdrop for the black details. The built-in units extending to the ceiling maximise storage space and emphasise the vertical proportions of the interior. Cylindrical lighting fixtures reinforce the minimalist character of this part of the flat.

Bedroom – softness and functionality
The bedroom focuses on tranquillity and functional integration. The bed with a grey upholstered headboard is set in a wooden frame with built-in shelves, eliminating the need for additional furniture. A black, linear wall lamp was placed above the headboard, which is a subtle graphic detail against the light-coloured wall. The textiles are in shades of ecru and beige, which enhances the feeling of cosiness without excessive decoration. The built-in furniture combines storage with a place to work, which is particularly important in a small space.
The last room is the bathroom, which continues the aesthetic of the entire flat, combining base tiles imitating beige-grey terrazzo with modular tiles from the Italian factory Marazzi. The central element is compact built-in furniture with a distinctive wood pattern, broken up by round, white Viefe handles, which add lightness. A simple countertop washbasin and chrome fittings emphasise the timeless character of the design.
