When working on the design of this interior, architect Monika Kubica wanted to refer to the city itself. To emphasise unforced elegance, to create soft Art Nouveau lines and pleasant light. A flat was created in Bielsko-Biała that, despite its limited space, fully meets the needs.
The interior design is versatile. It is enough to place a few personal items here, change the accessories from time to time to give the space a new character.
Each added personal object emphasises the character of the interior, and the flowers from a nearby meadow are the best in the vase. This is exactly the kind of authenticity we were looking for,” says designer Monika Kubica of Jasno studio.
Functionality was equally important. This is a place to live, so it must provide comfortable cooking, receiving guests or relaxation. In order to accommodate as many functions as possible, the designer decided to remove the partition wall between the bedroom and the living room and installed sliding glass doors. This made the interior lighter. Two windows can be seen from the living room, giving a sense of space. The former entrance is replaced by a curved corner wardrobe and a recess with a desk, which is accentuated by wallpaper with an abstract pattern.
The flat in Bielsko-Biała now has a mood that is conducive to slowing down, celebrating everyday life. The living area, has become its heart. Life revolves around a wooden table with a café-like character, which invites you to stop. This piece of furniture was imported from Belgium. Refurbished and fitted with a new veneer, it will serve for generations to come. Next to the table, classic bentwood chairs with Viennese braided seats have been placed.
I like their unpretentiousness and sleek, soft shape. And when tucked under the table, they don’t take up a lot of space – this was important in this project,” adds the interior designer.
The distinctive form of the table stands out in an interesting way against the background of the lighter, blue-cream kitchen furnishings. A characteristic element of the latter is the brass hood. Another attractive element is the curved end of the kitchen fitting, which is reminiscent of old cupboards.
The designer’s treatment of the bathroom is in contrast. It is the only separate room in the flat. The small, but functional space is decorated with tiles imitating onyx, a distinctive mosaic on the floor and an angular mirror. This is completed by a geometric cabinet under the washbasin with a row of brass buttons.
