M House is a modern detached house with a floor area of 400 square metres, completed near Warsaw in 2025 to a design by Mateusz Ozdoba of the KRES Architekci practice. It is an example of architecture that does not flaunt its form, but consistently enhances the quality of life for its residents through light, proportions and the thoughtful use of materials. The design was conceived with the aim of creating a timeless space – functional, harmonious and refined in every detail. The interior was designed by Ewelina Ozdoba and Anna Szostkowska.
The building’s form is shaped by a combination of simple, cubist forms, which are balanced by the soft transitions and gentle curves found in the interiors and details. This dialogue between geometry and organic forms gives the building a distinctive yet serene character. The upper floor is emphasised by the use of knee-high windows – a solution that reinforces the vertical lines of the structure and opens the interiors to light and views.
The beauty of simplicity
The façade is based on a combination of light grey sheet metal and natural pine wood. The cool, minimalist material palette is offset by the warmth of the wood, creating a balance between modernity and naturalness. This lends the house a sense of lightness whilst retaining its distinctive architectural character.
In M House, light plays a role on a par with the finishing materials. Large glazed areas and carefully designed views allow light to flow freely throughout the day. Natural lighting highlights the texture of stone, wood and fabrics, creating depth and a multi-layered quality to the space. The changing light here becomes an element that shapes the atmosphere – from the clarity of morning to the tranquillity of evening.
In the spirit of feng shui
The design was based on the principles of feng shui, which resulted in clear zoning and a seamless transition between functions. The interiors have been organised to encourage the free flow of energy, light and movement. The architect has ensured a balance between openness and intimacy, creating a space that supports the residents’ everyday comfort.
The ground floor of the house comprises a spacious, open-plan living area that integrates the kitchen, dining room and living room. This space is designed as the centre of family life, with a direct connection to the garden. The central feature is a stone kitchen island – the dominant compositional accent and the functional heart of the home. The ground floor also features a study, a guest room, a bathroom and a relaxation area with a sauna and a view of the swimming pool. This part of the house serves as a home wellness centre, creating a private space for regeneration.
Private area
The first floor is dedicated to private functions. It houses three children’s bedrooms, a bathroom, a laundry room and an open mezzanine, which enhances the sense of space and visual connection between the floors. The most intimate part is the master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and private bathroom – designed as a calm, tranquil space for rest.
The interiors of M House are based on a natural palette of materials: warm beiges, wood, natural stone and soft fabrics. Subtle, multi-layered lighting highlights the architecture without overwhelming it. Every element – from textures to proportions – has been chosen to create an atmosphere of harmony and timeless elegance.
Technology for everyday life
The house is equipped with advanced smart control systems that make daily life easier for its residents. These solutions make the space more intuitive and tailored to the pace of the household’s life, whilst remaining an invisible backdrop to the architecture.
M House is a project based on a conscious balance – between light and shadow, austerity and softness, geometry and organic form. It is a home where architecture not only organises functions, but above all creates an experience of living in peace, comfort and timeless aesthetics.
