Interior in earthy colours. We take a look at the flat on Hoża street in Warsaw!

An interior in earthy colours hides in the heart of pre-war Warsaw – on Hoża Street. It is here, in a historic tenement house, that a project was created that uniquely combines history with modernity. Subtle shades, authentic details and respect for the original architecture create a space full of calm and warmth. The project was realised with a young woman in mind – Nina, for whom the flat was purchased by her mother, Mrs Iza. The main idea? To create a space that is bright, harmonious and timeless, resistant to seasonal trends, yet friendly and personal.

Respect for history and details

The architect responsible for arranging the flat focused on preserving as many original elements as possible. “Townhouses have something extraordinary about them. Their history, their ornamentation, their proportions – these are values that we want to protect.” – she pointed out.

That is why the original door handles, bands and stucco remain in the flat, as well as the majestic tiled cooker and the century-old parquet floor. The exposed ceiling, left in its raw form, is a conscious emphasis on the authentic character of the space.

Functionality in the spirit of harmony

Although the layout of the flat has been preserved to around 80%, it has been possible to introduce modern solutions without disrupting the historic rhythm of the interior. There is a shower in the bathroom and a washing machine discreetly concealed in the hall, placed in the utility room. These are small but significant changes that enhance the comfort of everyday life.

Colours of nature – Interior in earthy colours

An earth-inspired colour palette became a key element of the design. Shades of wood, sand, stone and natural fabrics dominate. “Neutral, subtle, almost quiet” is how the architect described the colour scheme of the flat. Such a base allowed for the introduction of delicate personal touches – souvenirs from her travels, such as the mirror from the Tuscan flea market, which found its place in the bathroom.

A space with soul and a philosophy of peace

The interior design was not just an aesthetic challenge. It is also a manifesto of a design philosophy that focuses on authenticity and balance. “It’s not just the choice of materials, it’s a philosophy – that the interior should give peace, a sense of security, harmony,” explained the designer.

The Hoża flat is not just a beautifully arranged space. It is an example of how respect for the history of a place can be maintained without giving up modern solutions. The interior in earthy colours is also a story about emotions, family values and conscious design that does not succumb to fads.

A flat where history and the present shake hands

This project is more than an interior – it is an atmosphere, a mood, a way of life. The flat on Hoża Street shows that true beauty lies in details that have stood the test of time. In the restored mouldings, in the wood with its noble grain, in the raw ceiling that does not hide its past. It is a space in which, as the architect emphasises, time slows down and the residents can feel truly at home.
