It has 40 sq m. This is how they furnished a flat in Krakow

In Krakow, on just forty square metres, 3XEL Architekci created a space that combines functionality with impeccable aesthetics. A neutral palette of whites, beiges and warm creams opens up the interior, while selected natural materials introduce cosiness and elegance. The floor is finished with micro-cement, the matt, homogeneous structure of which lends a loft-like feel.

The focal point of the living area is a round, black table set with the iconic DSC 106 chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli. Their energetic orange hue enlivens the space, contrasting with the subdued background. Hovering above this set is a lamp by the Polish brand Chors, whose airy form subtly defines the dining room and emphasises the minimalist line of the arrangement.

The lightweight kitchen cabinetry was designed with durability and aesthetics in mind. The aluminium fronts harmonise with the Crema Terra granite worktop, creating a duo that is modern and resistant to everyday challenges. The open shelf adds optical lightness, allowing the most frequently used dishes to be displayed in a striking manner.

The furniture in the lounge area is made of top-quality materials: walnut veneer brings warmth, while black lacquered oak accentuates elegance. The modular sofa by Danish brand Softline contrasts the geometric form with the softness of the upholstery, inviting you to… relax. The designers have ensured that each piece retains a simple, modernist line.

The flexibility of the arrangement in the private area is another nod to functionality. A wardrobe hides behind a light curtain, allowing for quick changes in the layout of the space. The author’s desk and RTV cabinet, designed to measure, fit seamlessly into the whole, creating a coherent composition.

The bathroom contrasts with bright tiles with intense orange grout, which enlivens the interior and emphasises the geometric rhythm of the tiles. Chrome fittings bring a classic touch, balancing the coolness of minimalism. Thanks to the carefully planned lighting, every detail gains depth, and the play of light and shadow highlights the textures of the materials.

The project as a whole demonstrates how a sense of spaciousness and distinctive style can be achieved with clever solutions, even in a small space. The realisation by Justyna and Patryk Ławrynowicz of 3XEL Architekci proves that minimalism does not exclude cosiness or character. Their unique approach to detail turns the flat into a complete work of functional art.
