From the outset, the flat in Sopot was intended solely for leisure. It was to become a refuge where one could escape from everyday life and enjoy a seaside holiday. This goal determined the character of the interior, which is modern, comfortable and cosy. The Conceptownia architectural studio took care of the design “in every detail” and supervised the implementation, using products available in the Dekorian Home chain of stores.
How about a trip to the seaside? Any time! For a weekend, a few days or even weeks. All you need to do is agree on a date with the rest of the family, because the holiday apartment in Sopot is used not only by its owners (who live permanently in southern Poland), but also by their children and grandchildren. The place is not very big – it occupies 43 square metres in a new building. It consists of a living area (living room connected to the kitchen), a bedroom and a bathroom. The usable area also includes a large terrace, where a relaxation area and an outdoor dining area have been arranged.
Like a hotel, but better
The interior of the Sopot apartment was designed by the Conceptownia architectural studio.
The flat came to us in a developer’s condition. It was like a blank canvas on which we could sketch our visions. The investors placed a great deal of trust in us and gave us practically free rein in terms of creating the space. They only specified that the effect should be modern, comfortable and cosy; they wanted the apartment to give the feeling of staying in a luxury hotel, says studio owner Katarzyna Jędruszczak.
From the outset, the Sopot flat was designed as a place to relax, not for everyday living. This determined its character and the organisation of the space (e.g. there was no need to devote a large part of the volume to wardrobes for storage).
The atmosphere of any interior depends largely on its colour scheme. Here, it is based on the contrast created by a neutral base composed of off-white walls and beige tones, and strong accents (black or intense brick red).
Focus on quality
One of the priorities was to use the highest quality materials. In a small interior, it is better not to introduce too many different wall or floor finishes, as this makes the space appear smaller. Conceptownia therefore chose only two materials for the flooring. In the living room and bedroom, wooden flooring from the Dekorian Home range (Nobifloor 2115N select nature) was laid, brushed and varnished, with a satin finish, distinguished by a small number of knots. To complement this, black Dynamic Decor F1580B skirting boards, also from Dekorian Home, were selected. In the hallway and kitchen, Provenza tiles from the UniqueTravertine collection were used. In the bathroom, these tiles were left with smooth, large-format beige glazed tiles and Equipe tiles in a brick red shade.
Most of the walls are wallpapered, as the architects wanted to achieve an effect of optical softness and improve the acoustics. They chose decorative, yet subtly sophisticated luxury wallpapers from the Dekorian Home range. In the bedroom, the wall behind the bed is dominated by beautiful, large-format wall graphics by the Italian brand Glamora (Classic But Poppy pattern). The living room is decorated with delicate Arte wallpaper from the ‘Essentials Palette’ collection, BN 218692, whose interesting texture is emphasised by lighting installed at the right angle.

The furniture is designed by Conceptownia and manufactured by the Italian brand Lube in cooperation with Mebella Design. In the bedroom, the architects wanted to move away from the idea of a typical floor-to-ceiling wardrobe. Instead, they proposed an interesting piece of furniture divided into three parts, with drawers in the lower section, an illuminated recess with a smoked mirror in the middle, and closed cabinets with shelves and a rail in the upper section. Another original piece of furniture is the bookcase in the living room, illuminated from behind, whose shelves correspond in colour to the fronts of the rest of the apartment’s built-in furniture.
A characteristic element of the interior is a row of three mirrored panels designed by Conceptownia, placed next to the entrance door (DH DoorsStabil TOP with EngerAprileArnica handles from the Dekorian Home range). Thanks to the fact that the panels are rotatable, they can be set in any position: either visually separating the mini hall from the living room, or, on the contrary, connecting both areas by maintaining a clear view.
The freestanding furniture was selected from the offerings of renowned brands: the sofa in the living room is from IWC Home, the coffee tables are from Boli, the table is from Zuiver, and the chairs are from Gubi. In the bedroom, next to the custom-made bed, there is a cabinet and Tamo bedside tables.
A television set as a work of art
When selecting lighting, the architects also focused on quality and good design. The apartment features fixtures from companies such as Aqform, Chors (wall lamps), &Tradition (living room lamp), Vibia (living room ceiling lamp) and Artemide (lamps above the table), selected from the wide range offered by Dekorian Home.
A Samsung The Frame television hangs on the wall in the living room. It can display images from famous museums, photographs or graphics, and the colour of the frames themselves can be changed. Thanks to these diverse options, the television screen resembles a work of art. It can also be perfectly matched to any interior design.

Conceptownia participated in the creation of the interior of the Sopot apartment from the very beginning – starting with the vision and design and ending with the final “polishing” of the project. It paid equal attention to both the overall picture and the details (including the delivery of the quietest possible dishwasher and extractor hood, and a washlet toilet with a heated seat). All this was done to make the interior visually attractive and at the same time comfortable and pleasant to use.
We derive great satisfaction from the fact that, despite a few obstacles and moments of uncertainty, the project was realised exactly as it appeared in the visualisations. At Conceptownia, the idea is that a good design should be followed by reliable implementation; our main focus is both on individualising designs – adapting them to the needs of investors – and on perfect renovation and furnishing. All this is supervised by a committed, competent and well-coordinated team of which I am incredibly proud. Interior designer Sylwia Tokarska and coordinator Agata Waszak were particularly involved in the creation of the Sopot apartment. Without the latter, it would simply not have been possible to coordinate the schedules of a dozen or so subcontractors and ensure the quality of the entire project, adds Katarzyna Jędruszczak.
