The Warsaw flat of approximately 60 square metres was designed to create a comfortable and everyday living space that exudes positive energy. Collaboration with the investors played a key role in the project, who at the first meeting stressed that they liked colours, especially yellow. This comment inspired the introduction of sunny accents that bring warmth and joy to the interior.
During the initial discussions, Karina Roman of studio P/art carefully discussed the needs of the future residents, which allowed the functional layout of the flat to be refined. The main challenges were the need to move the washing machine from the bathroom to the living area and to organise additional space for a storage cupboard. Several prepared layout variants made it possible to choose the solution that best met the investors’ expectations, thanks to which the entire project gained in consistency and usability in everyday use.
Kitchen – aesthetics and functionality
The kitchen is highlighted by bright, expressive tiles with a strong pattern, which form the starting point for the further arrangement. The designer took care to hide white goods – such as the fridge, washing machine and dryer – behind smooth, bright surfaces and integrate the finishes – the bright furniture fronts were complemented with a natural wood shade, which contrasts subtly with the darker, restored pieces found at auctions.
Emphasising the kitchen area was also achieved by graphically transferring colour from the wall to the ceiling. The three-dimensional effect and the possibility of freely modifying the space (e.g. flexible table settings or changing the lighting) make the kitchen an ideal place for gatherings with family and friends.
Living room – the beauty of harmony
In the main living room, the focal point is the bookcase, which serves simultaneously as: a TV wall, storage space and decorative element. Next to the bookcase, a cosy seating area has been created, dominated by a soft yellow sofa. An additional accent is provided by armchairs inherited from the investor’s grandmother – refurbished and integrated into the overall arrangement. This combination of new and old elements creates a coherent story, where tradition meets modern design.
Changing the layout of the bathroom to move the washing machine allowed for a more functional and comfortable space. The new arrangement included a bathtub, a practical countertop at the washbasin and plenty of storage space for chemicals or cosmetics. A darker-patterned floor tile was used in the arrangement, which was repeated in the wall section, enriched with colourful accents and a yellow ceiling. This is complemented by wooden fittings and light-coloured tiles with different finishes, which give the bathroom a unique charm.
Bedroom – relaxation area
In the bedroom, the emphasis is on creating a zone conducive to relaxation. Therefore, the colour intensity on the walls and in the built-in furniture was limited, allowing for future individual decorative modifications. The bed headrest was created according to design and combines the function of a backrest with integrated bedside cabinets – shelves on both sides and an additional shelf for sockets and light switches. This solution allows a space-saving use of space while emphasising the functionality of the bedroom.
The Warsaw flat and its arrangement are complemented by a wooden floor in a natural shade, warm white walls and non-intrusive wardrobes, which provide a neutral background for a variety of accessories. This gave the flat not only a coherent and harmonious character, but also a space open to future rearrangements according to the young couple’s taste.
