It has 75 sq m. Modern flat with vintage furniture

The design of its interior was prepared by Katarzyna Nikanovich. The modern flat filled with vintage furniture is located near Minsk. It is a space on the eleventh floor of a new residential building. The interior is meant to relate to the modern façade of the building, so when designing the flat, the architect wanted to introduce elements that would connect the two zones.

The apartment is located high up, so there is a lot of natural light flowing into the interior. Together with the client, the designer decided on dark finishing elements. The flat is owned by a married couple of engineers. They previously lived and worked in South Korea for more than 15 years. Returning home, they decided to live in a new place.

It is a three-room flat with a living room with kitchenette, two bedrooms, an entrance hall, two bathrooms and two dressing rooms. The investors wanted a comfortable bedroom connected to the bathroom. They wanted to include a sofa in the study so that the children could come here at weekends and stay the night. In the hallway, there is a guest bathroom. The designer placed a wardrobe with a washing machine and dryer there. The functional layout has been changed. In order to create a comfortable master area, the position of the entrance to the bathroom was changed. In addition, a cloakroom was separated in the hallway and a sliding door was installed. A new partition wall in the kitchen allowed the fridge to be somewhat hidden.

The flat owners do not cook much, so the kitchen is not the most important thing in this interior. It was important to create a comfortable space for meeting and receiving guests,” admits Katarzyna Nikanovich.

The interior received many elements of original construction. According to the architect’s design, a cabinet was made at the entrance door, all furniture in the bathrooms, a RTV cabinet, furniture in the wardrobes, a chest of drawers and a dressing table in the bedroom. The kitchen was also made to measure.

I’m very pleased with how the kitchen looks: even better than on the visualisations! At first glance it has a WOW effect! I’m proud of the atmosphere in the interior. Thanks to the combination of industrial elements (concrete panels in the living room, stone wall in the bedroom) and the abundance of textiles, the interior looks cosy, unusual and modern. Even the wall in the bedroom actually looks soft and enveloping and does not create the impression of a ‘cave’ at all. I am very pleased with the way the study desk, which the owners have had for many, many years, fits into the modern interior. And, most importantly, the owners feel comfortable and happy in it. The interior is really sensuous: there are many materials that one would like to touch. According to the owner of the flat, this is exactly the interior she dreamed of! – concludes Catherine Nikanovich.
