This intimate space was intended to be an oasis for relaxation, providing a respite from everyday responsibilities. The flat in Kołobrzeg was designed by Monika Nienartowicz-Masciarelli, who skilfully combined different styles, drawing on modernist motifs from the mid-20th century.
The 35-square-metre flat had to be fully functional, so the heart of the flat was a capacious wardrobe, which was placed in the place of the removed wall between the kitchen and the bedroom. Its form was designed so that it can be used from any of the three rooms. In the bedroom and corridor, it provides storage for clothes and gives a comfortable seat, and on the kitchen side, it provides an additional countertop with a coffee machine and cupboards. Its curved form, despite its large size, does not overwhelm the small interior. The base of the cupboard is made of brass sheet metal, contrasting with the dark chocolate floor.
Another visual highlight is the decorative glazing, which is located perpendicular to the furniture development. The glazing separates the bedroom area and the double sliding doors allow the bedroom and lounge areas to open up and merge. Above the bed, the wall is decorated with a painting by Grzegorz Worpus-Budziejewski, which brings to mind the horizon of a calm sea.
Also attractive is the mirrored wall that conceals the door. Behind the door is a small maroon bathroom with blue accents, such as a Murano lamp from the 1970s. The mirrors visually enlarge the space and make it brighter.
Although the space of the corridor, kitchen and living room is open, we managed to separate the functional zones. The maroon kitchen, despite its small size, has all the necessary equipment for preparing meals and is also an elegant, jewel-like element in the interior. In the living room, we find a table where we can eat a meal or work on the computer, which was of particular interest to the Investor. Further on, there is a seating area with a round armchair from Nooma design in ultramarine,” explains the designer.
The designed interior is consistent. Three colours dominate here: maroon, brown and ultramarine. It is a bold colour combination, but thanks to the introduction of geometric forms and curves, it looks great.
The flat in Kołobrzeg also has a large terrace. This is an additional space where the investor likes to spend time breathing in the sea breeze and relaxing among the lush vegetation.
