In the centre of Wrocław lies a 51-square-metre flat which a young couple have transformed into a contemporary living studio – a quiet, mindful space tailored to their daily rituals. This interior, designed by Agata Pierożyńska of the Habitat Wnętrza studio, is a space where every element has meaning, and the home becomes an active participant in everyday life.
From the moment you step inside, it is clear that this is not a flat designed merely to showcase decorative elements. Its strength lies in its simplicity, consistency and thoughtfulness. A light colour palette (whites, off-beiges and natural shades of clay) creates a calm backdrop for life, lending the space its character. The light, soft and diffused, transforms the flat’s atmosphere throughout the day, emphasising its organic, almost meditative quality.
A monochromatic base
The aesthetic of this interior stems from the presence of objects that have their own history and function. Each has been chosen intuitively, without haste, in keeping with the idea of functional beauty. This approach makes the space cohesive, yet far from contrived – it looks as though it has evolved gradually, at the everyday pace of its inhabitants’ lives.
A special role is played by the functional ceramics handcrafted by the flat’s owner. The entire process – from working with the clay, through shaping, drying and glazing, right through to firing – ensures that each piece has a unique character. Mugs, bowls, plates and handles become small sculptural forms that bring softness and authenticity to the interior. Their organic shapes subtly contrast with the geometric simplicity of the flat, creating a balanced composition.
Greenery every day
Plants are an integral part of the home’s atmosphere. They appear in various areas, introducing natural variety and a sense of life. Particularly striking is the installation suspended above the kitchen island – a light, organic composition that adds softness and a sense of living presence to the space. This solution softens the minimalist base and highlights the residents’ love of nature.
Natural finishing materials are a key element of the design. In the kitchen and built-in units, veneer fronts with a distinct yet subtle grain have been used, bringing warmth to the light colour scheme. In the bathroom, checzota wood is featured – a material with an irregular, almost sculptural texture, lending the space an intimate and artistic character. These choices emphasise the residents’ closeness to nature and their passion for craftsmanship.
A contemporary interpretation of city life
The flat can be seen as a manifesto of conscious living in dynamic Wrocław. The city lies just beyond the windows, multi-layered and intense, whilst inside there is silence and focus. It is a space which, rather than cutting itself off from the outside world, filters its energy, allowing for a more mindful way of living.
The interior style combines the aesthetics of white minimalism with elements of contemporary craftsmanship. There is no excess or randomness here – only consistency, quality and a conscious choice of simplicity. Luxury is defined differently: as time, light and the opportunity to create things with one’s own hands. Ceramics become a trace of the process that permeates the entire flat, and the home functions as a space co-created day by day.

About the studio:
A Wrocław-based design studio founded in 2020 by Agata Pierożyńska, an interior architect and graduate of Wrocław University of Technology. Habitat was established during a period of intense social and economic change, in response to the need to create spaces that foster lasting relationships between the designer, the client and the user. The studio’s philosophy is based on dialogue – attentive, collaborative and maintained at every stage of the process.
