It is full of harmony. Elegant flat in Bialystok

The flat in Bialystok is 60 sq m in size. Its interior was designed by Damian Kozłowski of 74studio interior design. The result is an elegant space conducive to relaxation. The effect was achieved through the careful selection of materials.

In order to adapt the interior to the investors’ needs, the architect decided to change the initial functional layout. This concerned the proportions of the corridor, which resulted in more space in the bathroom and an additional utility room. The functional layout of the kitchen and living room was also changed to create a small dining room with a round table for four. In total, the flat consists of a living room connected to the kitchen and dining area, a study, a bedroom, a bathroom and a utility room.

The investors gave us a free hand, relying completely on our experience. This directed us to analyse the possible future needs of the clients over the next few years. We also analysed their needs regarding the daily use of the flat, their current habits, what they expect from the functional side of the flat, what they definitely do not want in it,” says Damian Kozłowski.

An eye-soothing arrangement was created using microcement, warm white and dark wood. The former decorated the floor throughout the flat. The micro-cement finish also appeared on the walls in the bathroom.

We broke up the simplicity of these materials with a proportionally large amount of wall cladding and wooden furniture in a dark walnut-brown finish, he adds.

Wooden cladding appeared in both the living area and the bedroom. In the kitchen, the furniture in a wooden finish is complemented by natural Taj Mahal stone; the choice of stone has given the interior a noble setting. In addition, this area features an island in an original shape with a chamfered side. It is decorated with large-format sintering.

When designing the interior, the architect focused on high-quality materials and timeless design. The flat is decorated with furniture by Polish designers.

The interior design is consistent. The same materials are found in the bathroom. Large-format stone sinter dominates the shower and visually separates its function. The room features an additional built-in area with storage space as well as a large countertop with washbasin and mirror. The bathroom is kept in a darker colour palette. The dark ceiling overhead gives an intimate feel and allows light sources to be hidden.

The bedroom has been given a softer arrangement. The architect suggested more wooden finishes. A headrest of his own design was fitted with additional lighting. The bedroom is complemented by a lightweight sintered construction that acts as a dressing table.
