It is in a historic villa. Charming flat in Sopot put up for sale

Sopot is famous for its historic villas, which give the city a unique atmosphere. One of them was built in 1906 in the heart of the city. It houses a flat that has been carefully renovated and today reminds us of the splendour of the spa town. Agata Borys from the boutique agency MO Real Estate told us about the unusual place.

Dolny Sopot is the most prestigious seaside district of this city, bordering the Gulf of Gdansk. It was here, in 1902, that Sopot was granted city rights and began to develop as a real resort. The pier, the Grand Hotel and the promenade today known as “Monciak” became its symbols, and Lower Sopot earned the nickname “Monte Carlo of the North”. In summer, Lower Sopot resounds with multilingual bustle the pier, beaches and restaurant gardens bustle with life, and in the side streets you can still feel the atmosphere of the former spa. In winter, it becomes a quiet, atmospheric place to stroll and rest, but also a place offering a rich cultural offer.

Obrońców Westerplatte Street is one of the most beautiful streets in Sopot, consisting of two parts connected by a footbridge over a ravine crossing the Sopot Escarpment. In the south it connects with Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street, in the north with Franciszka Goyki Street ,” says Agata Borys of MO Real Estate.

The flat located here is just over 122 sq m in size and boasts a historically clear functional layout. While staying inside, one can feel the spirit of Art Nouveau and the chic of yesteryear. It is as if we have taken a trip back in time and found ourselves in a pre-war resort. The flat consists of an entrance hall, bathroom, kitchen and three large rooms. Two of them are adjacent to a veranda of almost 8 square metres.

The owners bought the flat in 2023. At that time, a general renovation was planned and carried out, which respectfully addressed the precious fabric. Architectural details were preserved and historical elements were restored. Today, the flat has gone on sale again and is in the portfolio of the MO Real Estate agency.

Located in a historic building, the flat is distinguished by its original plan from the early 20th century. The rooms are accessed through impressive passageways in an amphitheatre arrangement. Such a solution is rare in today’s new residential developments.

The historic character of the tenement from the early 20th century has been carefully preserved and harmoniously combined with finishes of the highest standard, which offer functional amenities for the current times. Large glazing, a restored veranda and impressive room heights – as high as 3.4 metres – give the interiors extraordinary space. High-quality finishing materials ensure durability, aesthetics and timeless style. This property is the definition of a flat in a Sopot tenement ,” adds Agata Borys of MO Real Estate.

The décor is impressive. The interior is filled with white, which enhances the penetration of daylight and allows it to penetrate into the furthest nooks and crannies. Lovers of original solutions will also appreciate the glass elements in the interior doors and the ornate wooden windows. The bright space is warmed up by the bedroom floor (herringbone patterned at one time and classic plank pattern at another) and elegant tiles in the hallway. Modern decor prevails in the bathroom, which has been finished in marble and provides everything we expect from contemporary bathrooms.

The aesthetic of the flat is consistent. Inside, an eclectic style has been created, combining original design elements such as ornaments, stucco, ornate radiators and doors with sophisticated accessories and furniture. The latter included both antiques and contemporary icons of European design.

The icing on the cake of the flat is the veranda. It is almost 8 sq m in size and, due to its location on the mezzanine floor, allows direct access to the garden and relaxation among the old trees. The veranda is heavily glazed and its bright interior allows for a creative workspace or a winter garden.

A basement and an above-ground parking space are also available to future residents. And the proximity of the beach (just 700 m to the sea) means that a flat in a Sopot villa can become a dream place to live.
