Flats in tenement houses have enormous potential, especially if they boast a large floor area and high ceilings. Such is the case with this flat in Wrocław, which has 72 square metres of floor space and four-metre-high ceilings. The transformation of this space was carried out by architects from the KLU STUDIO studio.
The high rooms, with preserved stucco and proportions typical of pre-war buildings, became the framework for a contemporary arrangement that does not try to pretend to be historical. Light greys and off-white colours dominate. It is a palette that does not impose a mood, but allows the materials and forms to resonate and show their beauty.
The living room, dining room and kitchen form one seamlessly connected space. Soft, low sofas introduce a homely lightness, but do not blur the clear structure of the interior. Their softness contrasts with the geometric order of the ceiling and the expressive lines of the furniture. There is also a place to work in the same space. A minimalist plywood desk with a light, architectural form organises the function without detracting from the private character of the interior. Its design allows for comfortable work and enables the display of personal items.
A place for flavours
The kitchen is a carefully arranged space. Steel fronts and a stone worktop give it a raw look, which is broken up by two small but significant accents: a pastel pink refrigerator and an orange plinth. These are not decorations, but deliberate elements that bring energy to the neutral palette. The wooden table in the dining room serves as a meeting place – a place that naturally attracts and organises everyday life. The lighting remains discreet, designed to emphasise textures and materials rather than dominate the space.
Custom-made furniture
In the bedroom, the architects opted for soft fabrics and subtle colours. The irregular line of the upholstered headboard adds lightness to the interior, while the plywood built-in furniture, reaching up to the ceiling, organises the space and introduces natural warmth. The latter is of great importance, because thanks to its uniform colour scheme, it remains minimalist and at the same time allows for order to be maintained. The bedroom does not need many elements – it works thanks to its proportions, materials and calm consistency.

The bathroom continues the aesthetic of the entire flat. Stone countertops, grooved glass and diffused light create an atmosphere of everyday comfort. There are no unnecessary items here – instead, there is precision and attention to detail to ensure that each element works for the convenience of the users. A morning in a space designed in this way guarantees a dose of good energy!
Consistency in design
The Wrocław flat does not try to impress. Its strength lies in its consistency and skilful balancing of modernity and vintage elements. Colour and material details give the whole a personal character. It is an interior that does not impose its style, but remains in the memory thanks to its maturity and conscious design decisions. Bravo!

About the studio:
KLU STUDIO was founded by Klaudia Utracik Paduszyńska and Paulina Sobczyk, who have been designing private and commercial interiors since 2015. They work in a careful and orderly manner, focusing on a well-thought-out process that allows them to implement consistent and durable projects. They personally oversee each project, from the initial concept to the final executive decisions. Each time, they avoid formulaic solutions. Depending on the nature of the investment, the architects work in parallel or share responsibilities, always remaining in constant dialogue. On a daily basis, the studio is supported by Jagoda Barnak, who co-creates concepts and ensures the smooth running of subsequent stages of work. This allows them to maintain the quality, pace and individual character of each project.
