Its design was prepared by Bartosz Jarosz and Paweł Świerkowski of the Neostudio Architekci studio. The house was built on the edge of a forest in the Wielkopolska region. The building has been heavily glazed so that it is possible to observe the nature growing outside the windows all year round.
Here, you can forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax. It is a house where time slows down and every element emphasises the harmony with the surrounding forest. It was built for a family of four who wanted to live with the beautiful landscape outside their window. Set in such a way, the building allows for tranquillity. gives a sense of intimacy, but also recharges with positive energy and motivates for daily challenges.
The architects’ task was to reconstruct and adapt the interiors to the varying needs of each person spending their time there. The intervention in its structure was geared towards preserving the qualities of its surroundings.
The most important objectives were ascetic and calm means of expression, natural and friendly materials, plenty of natural light and contact with nature. A central terrace in a semi-atmospheric location brings nature into the interior, imbuing it with light and tranquillity. The limited palette of materials and the subtle play of textures create an atmosphere of tranquillity and elegance, the project authors describe.
Interestingly, this is not a completely new building. The house was created as a revitalisation of an existing building. However, several changes have been made so that the house meets the needs of the residents.
The functional layout of the ground floor was changed, separating the central part of the plan under a glass semi-atrium closed on three sides. This solution makes it possible to effectively fill in the deep part of the building with light and to focus the attention of the living area on the establishment of a terrace on the south side, to which the exit is available from all three sides: from the living room, the kitchen and the dining room. The northern part of the ground floor consists of the vertical communication and the parents’ bedroom area, while the children’s bedrooms are located on the ground floor. In the basement, a relaxation area and a separate utility area are located.
When working on the project, the architects focused on a harmonious combination of muted colours and interesting textures. A great deal of attention was paid to the lighting design, making sure that it was an obvious complement to natural light and worked well with it. Another element that ties together what is around the house with what is inside are the green wall elements with which the bedrooms are finished. The skylight in the ceiling of the master bedroom is also attractive.
