It is on the outskirts of Łódź. A house with a timeless interior

It is an elegant space with modern elements. The interior of the house on the outskirts of Łódź was designed by Justyna Ławrynowicz and Patryk Ławrynowicz of 3XEL Architekci. The designers opted for classics enlivened by details such as stucco.

The house on the outskirts of Łódź is 260 square metres. The building is simple and modern, but the interior surprises with its classical flair. The architects paid attention to every detail. An example of this is all the doors in the house, which were designed by the architects specifically for this location. In the spacious vestibule and the entrance area on the garage side, the floor is carpeted. A modern-designed double glass door in a black metal frame separates us from further rooms. The floor is covered with a thermo-coloured French herringbone plank, which has been thermally modified to a beautiful dark oak shade.

The most challenging element to complete in the entire house was the central wall with the staircase. On the living room side, there was a fireplace, furniture fittings and glass display cabinets; on the hall side, there was a staircase and balustrade, storage areas and a room under the stairs, all topped off with a stucco moulding. These design elements involved a large number of contractors who, by working together efficiently, created a complex and coherent mass,” admit the authors of the project.

Spirit of the past

The heart of the house is the high living room, which was opened up to the upper floor. It is by far the most representative part of the house. The built-in fireplace is clad in ornamental tile. To its right, a built-in furniture unit has been designed with fronts concealing the television and a recess for firewood. The lower part of the built-in is lined with natural quartz stone. The living room space is crowned with a stucco moulding that serves as a curtain rail and a lighting strip that casts a soft, decorative light on the upper floor of the house.

The focal point of the dining room is an oak table from the Polish brand Miloni. To give the space a unique atmosphere, Ay illuminate lamps inspired by nature were used. Handmade from bamboo, by master traditional craftsmen, these lamps are complemented by traditional fabrics made from natural fibres – cotton, silk, cashmere or sisal. An additional accent of this area is the lowered ceiling, where technical lighting is hidden, and the classical stucco gives this area its charm.

Functional kitchen

For owners who spend many hours in the kitchen, the design is the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality. The centrally located kitchen island has been designed for maximum usability. It abounds with workspace, space for the hob and ample storage for appliances and tableware. A prominent ceramic double sink, complemented by a natural stone-inspired worktop from the lower fireplace surround (natural quartzite), works perfectly with the long, narrow window, which lets in plenty of natural light. The glazed overhead cabinets and the high crown moulding complete the carefully considered concept, where every detail emphasises the prestige and functionality of the interior.

Private area

The ground floor also features a spacious bedroom, where we find harmony between comfort and elegance. The dominant element is a large bed from the Polish brand NAP, surrounded by carefully designed bedside tables finished in natural veneer. A masterful furniture enclosure, arranged on both sides of the entrance, cleverly conceals the TV and essential equipment, while providing space for closed storage and a striking glazed display of the owners’ private collections. A key addition is a LAWA-branded dressing table, designed by 3XEL Architects and made in a small manufactory near Łódź.

The spacious bathroom located next to the bedroom invites you to relax and unwind. The interior features both a freestanding bathtub and a walk-in shower, allowing you to choose the perfect way to relax. The concealed toilet and bidet set fits perfectly into the cohesive design of the room. Classic references can be seen in the milled fronts, elegant stucco and tiles with a natural stone motif, where subtle transitions between wall and floor create a harmonious whole. Every detail in the bathroom contributes to creating a space that combines modern functionality with timeless elegance.

The staircase adorns the interior

The entrance to the first floor is welcomed by a grand carpeted staircase clad in natural oak panelling, stained in a dark shade that harmonises with the floor. The turned wooden handrail perfectly complements the whole, giving the space coherence and warmth. The first-floor hallway serves both a practical and relaxing function – a storage area for the book collection is designed along its entire length, and a cosy reading and piano corner is set aside in the furthest part. The wallpaper with floral motifs by Belgian brand KHROMA gives the interior an extremely cosy atmosphere and visual warmth.

The upstairs bathroom is a masterful combination of two contrasting colours – broken white and turquoise. The matt floor, decorated with a subtle pattern reminiscent of marble, juxtaposed with a square craftsman tile in a bold colour, creates a striking composition. Stylised built-in fronts, white and chrome complement the whole, giving the bathroom a modern feel while emphasising its elegant, artistic dimension.

The entire development is an unusual blend of styles, where modern functionality meets a classic, cosy aesthetic.
