In a world where everyday life is constantly accelerating and sensory overload is becoming the new norm, there is a growing need to create spaces that allow us to slow down and breathe. It was this desire that gave rise to Natalia Kostrzewska’s project — a 111-square-metre flat in Wrocław, designed as a sanctuary where silence and order become a luxury in themselves.
The architect opted for the aesthetics of quiet luxury, understood not as ostentation, but as a conscious choice of quality, proportions and materials. Her version of minimalism is neither cold nor ascetic. It is rather a refined simplicity in which every element has its justification. Natural materials — wood, veneer, stone — create a feeling of closeness to nature, and their textures have a soothing effect on the senses. The bathroom features travertine-inspired tiles, and alabaster lamps emit soft, diffused light that subtly shapes the space. The colour scheme remains consistently coherent: cool beiges and warm greys combine with bleached wood, and the whole is enlivened by accents in shades of blue and cobalt, as well as steel and aluminium details.
The layout of the flat has been divided into three distinct zones that flow smoothly into one another. Right from the entrance, attention is drawn to the large built-in wardrobe for outerwear, designed to maintain visual clarity. Hidden within its structure is a door leading to a surprising black toilet. Next to it is a study separated by large glass doors, which allow even the hall to benefit from natural light. This solution emphasises the priority that the clients gave to lighting throughout the apartment.

The living area was designed as a space for spending time together and relaxing. A large, comfortable lounge area and an equally impressive table form the centre of home life. It is a place that opens up the interior like a tunnel, drawing the eye further and creating a feeling of spaciousness and freedom. The pursuit of harmony is particularly evident in this area: the lack of excessive decoration, carefully selected materials and proportions, as well as thoughtful lighting make the space conducive to tranquillity.
Behind the wooden double doors begins the private area. The bedroom, connected to a walk-in closet, bathroom and laundry room, creates a functional yet elegant layout. Even the dressing room has been fitted with large windows, which is a rare but extremely deliberate design choice — natural light emphasises the textures of the materials and gives the space a sense of lightness.

One of the key assumptions of the project was to limit stimuli. Natalia Kostrzewska therefore provided numerous storage solutions to keep the flat tidy and ensure that appliances and everyday items do not disrupt the visual coherence. It is this attention to detail that makes the interior an antidote to everyday chaos.
The result of the architect’s work is a subdued, elegant and deeply thought-out space. The flat in Wrocław becomes a place that not only delights with its aesthetics, but above all allows even the most tired senses to rest. In times of constant rush, such a home is a real luxury.
