The modern edifice was built in the vicinity of historic townhouses. Its design was prepared by architects from Ultra Architects. The building was nominated for the Architectural Award of the Wielkopolska Region (NAWW) in the category of multi-family residential buildings.
The building was constructed on a rather difficult plot of land. Only in one place does the plot connect to Dąbrowskiego Street in a narrow section.
The architects designed a building with varying heights. This was required by the regulations, so the height on Dąbrowskiego Street corresponds to that of the townhouses, but the lower buildings in the depth of the quarter forced the height of the ridges to be lower than that of the nearby school buildings. The architects took advantage of the restriction by designing a cascading assumption.
The building fills the quarter and connects several gable walls of the neighbouring houses, encloses the courtyards and creates an inner green courtyard. The cascade design has resulted in better illumination for the flats with windows overlooking the courtyard, and the residents have gained terraces or quite large balconies.
The architects tried to make maximum use of the available small space by designing greenery. Its presence is valuable, especially in the densely built-up area of Jeżyce.
Due to a change in the Construction Law at the time of the project’s creation, we could not connect the building to the gable wall of one of the neighbouring houses – after careful plot delimitation, it turned out that the building at 60 Dąbrowskiego Street does not stand on the border of the plot. We took this as an excuse to give a slight view from the street into the plot and into the green landscape of plant terraces piled up there,” conclude the authors of the project.
