Its area is 60 square metres. The flat, located on Aleja Pokoju in Kraków, was designed by architects from the One Desk studio. It is a bright space decorated with expressive furnishings and strong accessories. Taken together, they create a harmonious and elegant interior.
The architects’ task was to create a beautiful place to live, which would also meet the needs of the residents. What are these needs? That will be discussed in a moment.
Our cooperation with Janek and Michał started in a classic way: we received a projection of the flat, which was still under construction at the time, and a whole lot of interior design inspiration. The set of references was full of not only colourful, expressive details that perfectly reflected the style of the investors, but also spacious interiors with unusual layouts,” admit the authors of the project.
The interior of the flat was created for Janek and Michał:
The architects worked on the existing development layout. This one posed some limitations. The challenge was the one-sided exposure, which means sunlight in a narrower range of hours.
In the course of discussions, it became apparent that Michael is a fashion designer, so it was necessary to create a comfortable working space. Despite the limited space, the architects managed to arrange a room with a sewing machine. The studio was created in one of the two bedrooms.
A large, light glazing was designed between the studio and the entrance hall to the flat, which, without compromising functionality, visually freed up the space while giving it an original flair. The studio has been opened up to the hitherto rather dark hallway, so that upon entering the flat, instead of a wall, a multi-plan space filled with natural light was created.
Mirrored surfaces add a modern touch to the interior. This can be seen in the arranged mirrors or the stainless steel kitchen fittings. The uniform, smooth surface of the micro-cement used in the corridor and the study allowed the spaces of different functions and character to flow together seamlessly.
The living area is slightly different from the bedroom. In the latter, the architects wanted to achieve a cosy and calming effect. A mono-coloured wardrobe area leads to the bedroom. The designers opted for a dark plum colour, which gives the interior an elegant feel. The dark colour envelops, calms and gives a lot of warmth.
The bathroom was treated in an original way. The room is characterised by a fusion of structures and colours. The natural microcement, which is used for the entire bathroom, shows up in a variety of colours and patterns. Impressions are made by the wood grain on the furniture, the patterned marble or the ultramarine combined with stainless steel.
The space we designed was complemented by free-standing furniture and accessories, which Michał and Janek chose with great care and sensitivity, perfectly balancing between subtlety and expressiveness, ” concludes the One Desk team.
