The 65-square-metre flat in Poznań, designed by the MO Architekci studio, is a story of harmony, light and natural materials. It was created for a young couple, and its interior combines aesthetics with full functionality, without imposing form, but discreetly emphasising the rhythm of its inhabitants’ lives. The design focuses on the coherence of the composition: every solution has its justification, and the whole reads as a thoughtful and gentle space.
Warm, muted colours – beiges, whites and shades of natural wood – dominate, creating a background for subtle contrasts and subtle accents. The central visual element is the walnut-coloured cabinetry, which introduces depth and a noble counterpoint to the light palette. The light colour scheme, combined with plenty of natural light, creates a feeling of openness; soft fabrics and textured surfaces enhance the impression of calm and cosiness. Textures and materials have been chosen to harmonise freely – wood, fabrics and matt finishes create a balanced, calm interior landscape.
Functional layout and living area
The layout of the flat has been thoroughly thought out and organised to seamlessly correspond to the rhythm of the residents’ lives. The open-plan living area combines the living room, kitchen and dining area in a single, well-lit space. The kitchen island acts as the heart of this composition; it is around it that domestic life and daily activities are concentrated. The proportions and textures have been composed in such a way as to ensure balance: the furniture and built-ins harmoniously define the zones while not interrupting the visual continuity of the interior.
Storage solutions
One of the key design considerations was thoughtful storage systems that blend into the architecture of the flat and organise the space without over-exposing the form. Spacious wardrobes and storage compartments are concealed in the wall built-ins, keeping the environment visually light. The aesthetics of clean lines go hand in hand with practicality – everyday objects have their place and the space remains clear and tidy. This is very practical!

Work zones and private area
The flat has two independent work zones. The first, in the bedroom, is a quiet place of concentration with a desk equipped with subtle backlighting and book shelves that integrate the workstation with the rest of the interior. The second zone, located in the guest room, serves simultaneously as a space for relaxation and reading; the light, flexible arrangement allows for repurposing as required. The bedroom and guest room remain stylistically consistent with the rest of the flat, which further enhances the impression of a homogeneous composition.
The bathroom continues the design language of the interior: a light palette of beige and white, tiles with a delicate terrazzo structure and details in brushed gold create an atmosphere of tranquillity and elegance. Functionality has been meticulously worked out – a large shower with a dedicated shelf, a roomy under-basin cupboard and a built-in unit with space for a washing machine and dryer ensure everyday comfort. Aesthetics are not at odds with convenience here; on the contrary, the finishes and furnishings work together to create a coherent and practical interior.

About the studio:
Studio MO Architekci was founded in 2015 in Poznań by Magdalena Statnik and Oskar Włodarek. They acquired their professional education during their field studies at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznan. They treat aesthetic, functional and technical values equally, which allows them not only to create personalised unique concepts, but above all to realise projects, which is the main goal of the studio’s activities.
In our studio, we pay particular attention to the harmony between function and form. We treat each interior as a space that complements the users’ style of functioning, where details matter and design solutions serve both aesthetics and convenience of everyday use. We make sure that every element, from the spatial layout to the choice of materials, harmonises with the character of the investment, creating a coherent and well-thought-out whole,” admit the founders of MO Architekci.
