Konin: two 19th century townhouses have been given new life. The buildings have undergone a real metamorphosis

As part of the project ‘GENERATOR OF MUNICIPAL ENERGY SOURCE A SOURCE OF SUCCESS FOR KONIN’, which was co-financed from the Norwegian Funds and the state budget, the city of Konin is implementing a number of measures aimed at improving the energy efficiency of municipal buildings. The project includes the preparation of energy audits, modernisation of facilities and preparation of technical documentation for further investments. Thanks to these measures, Konin’s townhouses are not only becoming more beautiful, but also more friendly to their tenants.

One of the key elements of the project was the modernisation of two residential buildings at 11 and 13 Wiosny Ludów St. The work was aimed at significantly improving the energy standard and comfort of the residents, and additionally refreshing the image of these 19th-century tenements.

The modernisation carried out by the company Instal-Serwis Julian Drabent, commissioned by the municipal company PGKiM, included a wide range of installation and construction works. The construction work included replacing the window and door woodwork with new, historically styled woodwork, renovating the façade, insulating the buildings and replacing the roof slopes. The work also included the removal of damp walls, the renovation of staircases and corridors, painting and other necessary masonry and plaster work.

All the work was carried out under the supervision of the conservation officer, due to the location of the buildings in the historic part of the city. The two tenement houses in Konin were also fitted with modern heating, hot and cold water systems, and a new electrical installation was made. The old tiled cookers were replaced by a modern communal heating centre, allowing the buildings to be connected to the municipal network.

Following the completion of works at 11 and 13 Wiosny Ludów Street, the total cost of which amounted to PLN 2,013,031.65, the City of Konin has obtained additional funds from BGK’s TERMO programme for the modernisation of a further four buildings. These works, which have already begun, included buildings at 17 Wojska Polskiego Street, 15 Wiosny Ludów Street, 20 Mickiewicza Street and 34 3 Maja Street. The implementation of this part of the project will last until the end of September 2025, and the contractor for the works is the RAM-BUD company from Nowy Krzymów. The total cost of this phase of the investment is approximately PLN 7.5 million.
