This launch will be of interest to those involved in digital content creation. The Samsung brand has unveiled the new Galaxy Tab S10 series. The tablets have gained advanced AI-based tools to aid productivity and creativity. I experienced this while working in an editorial office.
It’s been more than 30 years since Andy Warhol used his home computer to create art. At the time, the king of pop art used a very simple graphic editor and created digital versions of his famous works, including ‘Can Campbell’ and ‘Birth of Venus’. Some of the works he created with the help of a computer mouse have been found on floppy disks stored at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. I wonder what works of art Warhol would have created if he had had the most modern tools at his disposal with the support of artificial intelligence?
Centre for creativity
Most often we use tablets for browsing the web, social media or watching videos. The Galaxy Tab S10 series is perfect for this. The large screen and high quality sound will satisfy users of streaming services. However, there is much more to the possibilities of the series’ devices! I won’t write about the technical issues here. Those can be found on the manufacturer’s website (HERE). I will focus on functionality. What can such a tablet be used for and for whom might it be a good choice?
The creative industry encompasses a growing number of professions. Among them are graphic designers and illustrators. For them, among others, a special S Pen stylus has been developed and is included. The stylus offers advanced design capabilities. Posters can be created on the screen, images can be drawn or existing images can be reworked. With the Sketch to Image function, you can create colourful graphics in seconds. All you need is a rough sketch of what’s in your head, and the AI function will instantly turn your working drawing into a more elaborate image. The S Pen stylus also supports work on other applications such as Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Noteshelf, Clip Studio Paint, PicsaArt and Sketchbook.
Image generation is a major asset of the device. Its capabilities can also come in handy for interior designers. Even during the first meeting with a client, they will be able to quickly prepare a conceptual vision of a solution. Importantly, the Galaxy S10 tablet offers the possibility of adding objects to photos. For example: all an architect has to do is take a photo of a (still empty) living room and sketch a table and chairs in the right place. AI will recognise even a simple sketch and quickly generate a photo with the new furniture inside. To more accurately reflect the desired effect, there will be several furniture suggestions to choose from. It is worth noting that the graphics created in this way are photorealistic, with AI even analysing the light intensity to create the most realistic image possible.
A helper at work
The S Pen is not just for drawing, however. It’s a good assistant for everyday work, and with the Circle to Search with Google function, it speeds up tasks. Here again, I can give the example of interior designers. When a client sends in inspiration photos suggesting what they want their future home to look like, a shopping list can be quickly prepared. Simply use the stylus to circle the desired part of the photo so that Google’s search engine can find the item.
I have seen for myself how a small device can make everyday tasks easier. The task of the editorial team is to deliver high-quality texts, showcasing the most interesting topics. On the tablet I can instantly browse news sites, check out new architectural projects or get to the technological news. The Galaxy Tab S10 is made for multitasking. Switching between applications is lightning-fast and the split-screen design contributes to productivity. Navigation on the device is aided by artificial intelligence, which adjusts settings to make use more intuitive. The great thing about the tablet is the mobility – I can comfortably do tasks anywhere. When writing articles, however, I am a ‘traditionalist’ and choose physical contact with the buttons, which is where the Book Cover case with keyboard proves its worth.
A few days ago I conducted an interview with a designer, which I recorded using the tablet’s voice recorder function. Once the interview was over, the magic began. Backed by artificial intelligence, the Galaxy Tab S10 transcribed the entire interview, clearly distinguishing my voice from that of the interviewee. Previously using a traditional audio file, I had to transcribe the interview myself, a tedious and time-consuming task. With the automatic transcription of the interview into text, I was already able to work on the finished statements, editing them into the text file. How I regret that such equipment was not on the market when I was still a student. The voice recorder on the Galaxy Tab S10 will successfully record the entire content of the lecture and prepare a short summary, pointing out the most important points in bullet points.
Entertainment at hand
After work, the tablet will successfully serve as a mobile entertainment centre. Watching movies or playing games is smooth, and thanks to the anti-reflective coating, the screen is clear even in sunlight. In addition, Vision Booster technology improves visibility in strong light by analysing the brightness of the surroundings and changing the saturation of dark areas or increasing its sharpness. The visual experience is therefore at the highest level.
The Galaxy Tab S10 is a slim device available in two colours – graphite and elegant navy blue. The bezel around the screen is thin and the components placed are well balanced, so you can hold the device steadily. The tablet is available in two variants – Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. All feature high build quality and all will appeal to fans of minimalist design.
