‘LIVES’. Premiere of the 27th issue of whiteMAD magazine

Already in antiquity, they were seen by philosophers as primordial elements whose mutual mixing and separation explained the transformations of the world. Tales of Miletus, in his search for the first principle (arché) from which everything derives, pointed out that it is water. Anaximander, on the other hand, claimed that it was the apeiron, or infinity. Anaximenes saw the arché in air, and Heraclitus in fire. It is the elements that have driven the world since the beginning of time, and it is to them that we have decided to dedicate the 27th issue of the whiteMAD magazine. This issue will explore the elements in architects, designers and photographers.

In the ‘Fashion’ section, we take you on a journey to the depths. Zuza Przywecka – founder of the upcycling brand Second Hunt – and photographer Michalina Kicinska prepared a brilliant session in which the model often poses under the surface of the water. The girls managed to create a fairytale setting. We also publish Marlena Krawczyk ‘s graduation collection ‘I remember’ – a fashion story based on childhood memories.

The next section is a solid dose of architectural inspiration. Logos Architekci demonstrates how to skilfully build a modern house surrounded by nature, while ACOS and Studio Widoki prove that even an ordinary industrial building can be turned into a small work of art filled with beautiful design. For fans of original interiors, we recommend the KLU Studio realisation in Wrocław, where Klaudia Utracik and Paulina Sobczyk breathed new life into a flat in an old tenement. It is also worth paying attention to the attic flat in Katowice, full of fiery energy, designed by Grzegorz Layer and the interior design realisation by Hanna Pietras in Łódź.

In the “Design” section, we describe the projects of talented Polish designers and publish the statements of our invited guests. Representatives of the creative industries told us about the elements in their lives.

We close the issue with interviews with collage maker Agnieszka Osiecka and illustrator Małgorzata Bieroza. So, which element are you?

You can order the issue with delivery to a parcel machine or your home from the shop on our website whitemad.co.uk.
