Polish Job 2.0 is a cross-sectional exhibition of Polish design brands prepared by Łódź Design Festival. The presentation is a pretext for an analysis of the contemporary Polish market and a review of the most interesting products awarded in the must have plebiscite, organised by Łódź Design Festival since 2011.
Overview of Polish design
Polish Job 2.0 is a cross-sectional exhibition of projects and implementations representing the Polish design brand, its characteristics and uniqueness, prepared by Łódź Design Festival. The presentation is a pretext for analysing the contemporary Polish market, a review of the most interesting products and an attempt to grasp the criteria identifying brand consistency. During the first Polish Job at Milan Design Week in 2014. three interrelated themes were presented: locality, nostalgia and innovation, characterising Polish design. The current perspective shows that Polish design, in addition to drawing on regional motifs and resources, playing with and reworking designs from the past or trying to experiment and create new solutions, is also characterised by responsibility and resourcefulness.
Polish designers are increasingly proposing more efficient or ethical solutions, minimising waste or taking a creative approach to reusing existing resources during production. All five categories intermingle and merge in the projects and implementations selected for the exhibition. The prepared collection will show contemporary Polish design thought, current trends, the development of individual brands, the evolution of products and the most promising directions for design development in Poland.
must have plebiscite reveals trends on the polish market
The must have plebiscite is one of the most important parts that the Łódź Design Festival consists of. Since 2011, a board of experts has been monitoring changes and innovations in Polish design and awarding the must have quality label to products available on the Polish market that are innovative, socially sensitive, created with concern for resources and focus attention on ingenuity. The plebiscite inspires designers to work on innovative solutions and encourages manufacturers to invest in design as a key element of their market strategy.
In the run-up to the Polish Job 2.0 exhibition, nearly 1,000 award-winning products in the must have poll were reviewed and the characteristics of the Polish design brand were identified. Despite the huge diversity of domestic design, the main values guiding designers and manufacturers revolve around five intertwining concepts: innovation, responsibility, resourcefulness and localness and nostalgia. The collection selected for presentation reflects in an excellent way the contemporary character of Polish design and the directions of its development, carrying the promise of continuous improvement and a fresh look at the dominant trends in international design, while at the same time combining tradition with a guarantee of product quality. The partner of the Polish Job 2.0 exhibition is VANK.
