Such lamps suit eclectic interiors. The design of the Lop lamps was created by Thomas Vincent for Vietnamese furniture and lighting manufacturer BaNG. The artistic lamp collection is based on the motif of a sphere trapped between layers. When lit, the sphere’s reflections appear on the layers of plastic and seem to set it in motion.
The design of the Lop lamps is meant to reflect the philosophy of the company, whose name BaNG can be translated as ‘made by’ or ‘made with’. The brand emphasises the value of entrusting the preparation of its designs to experienced designers. It also places emphasis on craftsmanship and original design. Designer Thomas Vincent has created a light source that is like a small work of art.
The Lop lamps are available in four sizes and eight distinctive colours. One of the models is made of stainless steel. Each layer of the stainless steel version is hand-polished, giving it a mirror-like finish (we publish its photo in the gallery below). The others are made of acrylic tiles.
The resulting lamps come in orange, blue, pink, dark grey, red and green. There is also a ‘milky’ version and a transparent version. Only the blue models were fitted with a red bulb, the others have warm white bulbs.
Lop lamps can be purchased at the MoMA shop in New York or the Paris Pompidou Centre, among others. What about prices? For acrylic version prices range from 185€ to 420€ and for stainless steel version prices range from 524€ to 1,664€.
