Lublin: Bronowicki Park will be rebuilt. Asphalt alleys will be removed

Bronowicki Park in Lublin was established at the end of the 19th century. Now the city wants to make it an attractive place to spend leisure time. All asphalt alleys will be removed, the new surface will be mineral to allow water to pass through. There will be more changes.

The city is currently looking for a contractor for a project to revalue the park. The aim is to redesign the place, laying out a new layout of alleys and squares with small architecture and plantings. The whole thing is supposed to resemble the plan of a park from the early 20th century.

Bronowicki Park in Lublin has been entered in the register of provincial monuments since 1982. It has an area of 2.57 hectares and occupies an area between Fabryczna and Bronowicka Streets.

We have received EU funding for the revitalisation of this historically and naturally valuable area of urban greenery. We want one of the oldest city parks to change after many years and become a showpiece not only of the Bronowice district. After the completed revitalisation, the Park will again become attractive for people of all ages and with different needs. This place certainly deserves it,” says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.

The plan assumes carrying out the revitalisation, which will result in a new arrangement of alleys. The asphalt surface will disappear and be replaced by a mineral one. Additionally, the fence will be rebuilt. The project also includes the construction of terrain stairs, a retaining wall, greenery, the setting up of small architectural elements, the construction of a playground, a lighting system and monitoring. The stairs leading to the park from Fabryczna and Bronowicka Streets will be reconstructed, and new ones leading to the toboggan hill will be constructed. A ramp will appear at the entrance from Fabryczna Street.

In the central part of the park, a so-called walking loop will be created. It will be distinguished by tactile paths, which will facilitate the movement of blind people. Tiflomaps will also be installed.

The main entrance to the park from the junction of Bronowicka and Fabryczna Streets is designed as a square with greenery. New plants will appear not only in this place. New tree and shrub plantings will cover the entire park. The aim is to increase the biodiversity of the site. The revitalisation project involves introducing flowering shrubs, perennial meadows, ornamental grasses and bulbous plants into the park, with comfortable benches with backrests placed in between.

A novelty will be picnic tables, some of which will be adapted for playing chess. The city also plans to build a small open gym.

The playground area will also include water play equipment (with a pump system) and a park spring. The area will be illuminated with lanterns in a classic style. The investment also involves the reconstruction of fences and the renovation of retaining walls surrounding the park, the construction of a technological duct, water supply system and connection, rainwater drainage system, electrical power system and park lighting with a monitoring system. All works on the site will precede the demolition of the existing infrastructure. Due to thehistoric nature of the park, the construction work will be carried out under the supervision of the conservation officer, reports the city.

The total value of the project is PLN 12.5 million, of which EU funding is PLN 7 million. The city is now waiting for bids from contractors for the works. Tenders can be submitted until 30 August. The rebuilt park will be opened in May 2026.
