Marek Bimer and his light objects auctioned for a record sum

The tenth anniversary charity auction of the Friends of the MNW Association was held at the National Museum in Warsaw on 27 October. Mark Bimer’s sculptural lamps, subjected to the interventions of eminent Polish artists, were sold for a record-breaking total of PLN 816,000, with all proceeds going towards the development and conservation of the Museum’s contemporary art collection.

The project Spragnieni Piękna. Now is an initiative of the Association of Friends of the National Museum in Warsaw and DESA Unicum, combining auctions with social activities. Its aim is to build a community of art lovers and raise funds for selected museum projects, especially for the development and conservation of the contemporary art collection.

Dinner in the light of striking Bimera lamps

This year’s charity auction Thirst for Beauty. Now was the tenth anniversary event in the series. The event was preceded by a vernissage at DESA Unicum, open to the public, during which, on 24 October, guests were able to view in detail the works that were to be auctioned a few days later.

This year, unique handmade sculptural lamps by Marek Bimer, subjected to the creative interventions of artists such as Paweł Althamer, Anna Barlik, Monika Falkus, Maurycy Gomulicki, Tomasz Górnicki, Ida Karkoszka, Olga Mokrzycka, NeSpoon, Monika Patuszyńska, Olga Wolniak, Xawery Wolski, Olga Tokarczuk and Joanna Concejo, found their way into the hands of private collectors. A painting by Marta Nadolle was also auctioned during the auction.

on 27 October, at 6 p.m. on Monday, an elegant Spragnieni Piękna (Desire for Beauty) dinner was held in the Main Building of the National Museum. This special evening brought together representatives of culture, art and business around a common goal – to support the activities of the National Museum in Warsaw.

Record-breaking auction

The event was proof that art can unite people and inspire real action. The auction accompanying the dinner was a great success. All works of art sold for a total of PLN 816,000, the proceeds of which will go towards the conservation and expansion of the contemporary collection at the National Museum in Warsaw.

The Association of Friends of the MNW has been supporting the activities of the Museum and its branches for over a century. Founded in 1916, it has been operating in its current form since 2015, bringing together artists, collectors, art lovers and enthusiasts into a common community of Thirsty for Beauty.

The main partner of the Thirsty for Beauty dinner and auction . Now was Pagani of Warsaw, which has been involved in initiatives supporting culture and art for years. This is the second time that the Association of Friends of the MNW has had the opportunity to present cars of the Bugatti and Pagani brands at this event. The communication activities of this year’s edition of Desiring Beauty. Now agency OKK! PR, supporting the jubilee. The auction’s partners were DESA Unicum, Artinfo.pl and Format Publishing House. Supporting partners included: Domoteka, Perlage, Hennessy, Winne Pola, Winnica Pałac Mała Wieś, the Polish Business Council and the Association of Marketing Communication SAR.
