The choice of a light fitting begins with its functions and light parameters, but in interior design, the way it fits into the space is also important. The material used influences the perception of its form, its visual character, the way it shapes the light, and its relationship with other elements of the interior design. BLOS cast and FLARED cast utilise castings made from synthetic plaster, a material also used in dentistry. The matt, porous surface emphasises their raw aesthetic. Subtle variations in the texture of individual pieces are a natural result of the material’s moulding process and ensure that each piece is unique.

BLOS cast has a soft, rounded shape and can be used individually or in larger compositions on walls and ceilings. Combining several luminaires of different sizes and colours allows you to create decorative lighting arrangements.

FLARED cast introduces a more industrial aesthetic and makes a more pronounced statement within the interior. The luminaire is available in LED and E27 versions. The LED variant works well as functional task lighting, whilst the E27 version allows you to choose a replaceable light source and creates a mood-enhancing effect in rooms.

The art of handcrafting

SNOP are luminaires whose construction and materials define their form and uniqueness. Each shade is created from a single long length of cord in an artist’s studio in southern Poland. It is hand-woven using sailing knots and traditional weaving techniques, without the use of glue or visible joints. The precise knotting creates an openwork structure that remains a decorative feature of the interior even when the light is switched off.

SNOP is available in pendant and surface-mounted versions, in both E27 and LED variants. The E27 version allows the form to be showcased more prominently. The LED variant utilises optics with a glass lens familiar from the QRLED next range; therefore, in addition to its decorative form, it also delivers excellent lighting performance and reduces glare – ensuring usercomfort.

The raw beauty of aluminium in many forms

The BRUTAL collection showcases the raw character of aluminium, leaving it in an almost unaltered form. The material is protected only by a thin layer of colourless, satin-finish varnish, allowing the traces of machining and forming of individual components to remain visible.

The BRUTAL finish is available in the CONA, KLIVA, TRIBA, OPTIMA, PET, HOLLOW, SET TRU, RAFTER, MIXLINE and EMOT, amongst others. These include decorative pendant luminaires, spotlights, linear solutions, as well as surface-mounted and recessed models. Such a wide range gives designers considerable freedom in creating elaborate, aesthetically coherent lighting concepts.

Materials in the luminaire selection process

This combination of such diverse materials, forms, finishes and production techniques demonstrates the breadth of AQForm’s range. The choice of luminaire need not, therefore, be limited to power, beam angle, mounting method or colour temperature. Whilst these parameters remain the foundation of well-designed lighting, the material and method of manufacture also determine how well the product fits into the interior’s aesthetic.
