The metamorphosis of the courtyard delineated by the frontages of the buildings standing on Sępa-Szarzyńskiego, Prusa, Sienkiewicz and Wyszyńskiego streets will make the area greener and more resident-friendly. Wrocławskie Mieszkania will soon put out a tender for the work, which will include draining the area, using rainwater and creating new places for relaxation, a playground, greenery planting, a waste disposal area, car parks and external lighting.
Wrocław Housing is planning to put out a tender in the autumn for the comprehensive revitalisation of the 5,500 m² courtyard. The works will include, among other things, drainage of the area and connection to the sewage system with the possibility of collecting rainwater in special tanks. The project will also include the creation of rest, play and recreation areas, greenery planting, waste disposal areas, car parks and outdoor lighting.
– Comprehensive redevelopment, this is a project we have been working on for a very long time. The delays in starting work were due to the need to consider whether the water and sewage network would be included in the renovation, explains Katarzyna Galewska, spokesperson for Wrocławskie Mieszkańskie.
The renovation of the courtyard will be co-financed from the Integrated Territorial Investments (ZIT), similarly to the revitalisation of the courtyards at Benedyktyńska, Górnickiego and Sienkiewicza streets, commissioned in January this year. – We will announce a tender for a contractor for the works in autumn. The selection procedure will take about a month,’ informs Katarzyna Galewska.
The metamorphosis of the courtyard will recover rainwater
One of the main objectives of the project is to carry out drainage of the area and create a system for collecting rainwater in retention tanks. The aim is to manage the water rationally so that it does not go straight into the sewage system, but is used for green areas.
The work is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of next year. The courtyard will feature new pavements, access roads, parking spaces, a playground and recreational areas. Drought and heavy rain resistant vegetation, such as hydrangeas and other long flowering species, will also be planted.
