In Warsaw’s Saska Kępa, a space was created in a large-panel building that completely changed its face. The metamorphosis of a flat in Saska Kępa involved both functionality and aesthetics. The investors dreamt of an interior full of colour, original solutions and individual character, which at the same time would remain practical and fit into their daily rhythm of life.
The designer admits that she knew from the outset that changes to the layout of the rooms would be necessary. – “We already knew at the concept stage that a change in layout would be necessary. We decided to knock down the wall between the kitchen and the living room to open up the living space and let in more light.”
The result is a functional flat with a living room connected to the kitchen, a bedroom, a home office and a bathroom – a space full of light, life and modern energy.
Metamorphosis of a flat in Saska Kępa – colour and texture in the leading role
Colour and texture play a key role in the design. Juxtapositions of pastel and saturated tones create a positive, light atmosphere and at the same time bring individuality to the interior. Every detail has been considered so that the space is not only aesthetically stunning, but also inspires everyday use.
There are many unobvious solutions in the interior: a bathroom cabinet supported by blue balls, an open library made of pink steel or a chest of drawers in the living room set on colourful plinths. These details give the interior a unique character and an artistic flair.
Functionality and individuality
Despite bold design decisions and distinctive colour accents, functionality remained a priority. Each zone was designed with the occupants’ comfort and fluidity in mind.
– “We opted for individuality and playing with convention, but with a high degree of functionality, ” emphasises the designer.
This approach shows that even within the constraints imposed by a large slab, it is possible to create a space that is modern, personal and refined to the smallest detail.

A contemporary interpretation of the classics
The metamorphosis of a flat in Saska Kępa is an example of a modern approach to interior design – with courage, distance and respect for the context of the place. The project combines modernity with lightness and a sense of humour, without sacrificing functionality and comfort.
– “The project is a contemporary approach to living – modern, but on its own terms: with character, courage and distance from the usual patterns.”
The end result is an interior full of light, energy and details that reflect the residents’ personalities. This metamorphosis shows that even in a block structure it is possible to find a unique aesthetic and create a home with soul.
