Metamorphosis of a flat in Wrocław. It has 68 sq. m.

On the top floor of one of the buildings in Wrocław, a flat was created that fully exploits the potential of its location. The 68-square-metre flat underwent a thorough metamorphosis – from the functional layout to the finest finishing details. The result is an interior that exudes light, tranquillity and elegance, while remaining extremely practical for everyday use. It was the increase in functionality that was one of the most important tasks of the Kwadraton Design Studio.

The flat’s strongest asset is the large glazing opening up to views of the river and the old-growth forest. Natural light fills the interior throughout the day, emphasising its spaciousness and giving it a light feel. The functional layout includes a living room with kitchenette, bedroom, study, corridor and two bathrooms. Each room is designed to make maximum use of the available space and ensure the comfort of the residents.

Colour palette and materials

The design is in a warm, light colour palette – from creamy white to delicate taupe tones. This colourful backdrop allows the natural materials to shine through: wood in warm tones, plaid and stone. Coherent furnishings guide the eye through the rooms, creating an impression of harmony and continuity. The wooden floor warms up the space, while stone accents add nobility.

The motif of curves and curves is repeated throughout the flat – subtle but consistent. Already in the entrance area, the console hanging on the mirrored corner of the wall attracts attention, while in the vestibule and kitchen a carpet of tiles laid in soft, rounded forms appears. Contrasting accents in shades of creamy white and black add clarity to the arrangement without disturbing its calm rhythm.

A kitchen with a sense of proportion

The kitchen has been designed to combine aesthetics with functionality. The warm-toned worktop flows seamlessly into the apron thanks to the use of a plinth, which allowed for precise tiling and the creation of a consistent combination of materials. The induction hob, flush with the worktop, and the undermount sink make it easy to keep things tidy. The beige plinths and visually light wall units add subtlety to the kitchen, while the ornamental glass display case adds a decorative touch. On the living room side, the peninsula turns into an elegant bar, also finished with ornamental glass. Wicker lamps and a roller blind warm up the space.

Living room open to nature

In the living room, the view plays first fiddle – the river and the old-growth forest create a natural setting, which is further enhanced by deliberately placed mirrors. The terrace is an extension of the living area, encouraging visitors to spend time outdoors. The interior is kept in subtle colours juxtaposed with wood. The RTV cabinet repeats motifs present throughout the flat: a wooden frame, plaid and delicate black knobs. Symmetrical wall lamps and a shelf for travel souvenirs create a calm, orderly composition.

Minimalism and ambience

The bedroom draws on japanese styling – thin laths on the wall and subtle wall sconces create a calming atmosphere. In the larger bathroom, tiles imitating natural stone are used to create an almost theatrical effect when backlit. The second, smaller bathroom combines the functions of toilet, laundry and utility room, exemplifying the thoughtful use of space. It is a functionally arranged space.

The study is kept in the same harmonious colour palette as the rest of the flat. A bookcase with partially concealed fronts and a wardrobe with a wood-like body and wooden handles create a place conducive to work and concentration. It is a space that does not overwhelm, yet remains fully functional.

The metamorphosis of the flat shows how a coherent concept and attention to detail can transform the character of a space. Natural materials, a consistent colour scheme and recurring motifs have given the interior a light and timeless style. Large glazings open up the flat to light and views of the river, while functional solutions – from the kitchen to the bathrooms – make everyday life comfortable and intuitive.
