Minimalism tastes great. Café Boby in Krakow

The Krakow district of Debniki, at 27 Konfederacka Street, is home to Boby Specialty Coffee – a place that combines contemporary minimalism with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The café has been open for over a year and has already become part of the local meeting rhythm, offering a moment of calm and a space for conversation over excellent coffee. Its minimalist interior is a design by Zimon Studio.

The décor was realised by Zimon Studio, based on a design by Szymon Mrózek and Aleksandra Paneth. The premise was to create an interior that was elegant and sophisticated, yet open and intimate. Boby is intended to be a place where minimalism does not dominate with coolness, but creates a background for everyday meetings and intimate moments.

Materials and details

The 60 square metres harmoniously juxtapose smooth micro-cement surfaces with dark wood and polished steel. The composition is complemented by sculptural furniture, mirrors and rounded forms that bring softness and rhythm to the interior. Floral arrangements add a welcoming touch to the space, while thoughtful lighting and product displays emphasise what matters most – the coffee and its accompanying delicacies.

History and authors of the project

Boby was born out of a passion for coffee, matcha and people. The founders, Zuzia and Olga, combined experiences gained in international food and beverage environments. Zuzia, who worked as a barista in London and Krakow, dreamed of having her own place, Olga, with bartending experience in Poland and Dubai, shared this desire after they met. The joint project resulted in a place that was vibrant and welcoming.

The menu is dominated by specialty coffees and a wide range of KISO matcha in 12 variants, including a clarified matcha available exclusively at Boby. This is complemented by KISO baked goods – cakes and muffins – which build a full, cohesive experience for each visitor. Boby is not just about drinks, it is about curated flavours and rituals of encounter.

We wanted the interior to be simple and muted, while still having character. Minimalism can be warm – here it becomes a backdrop for everyday encounters, say the designers.

Boby realises this idea, offering an elegant but welcoming space where design and hospitality work together naturally.
