Modern and functional. We take a look at a flat in Mokotow

It has just over 100 sq m and is characterised by thoughtful solutions. The flat in Mokotow was designed by Karolina Jackowska of the ONUKO studio. It is a modern space, which is distinguished by a high ceiling. The bright interior, accompanied by wooden furnishings and colourful accessories, made it possible to create an attractive living space.

The owners of the flat focused primarily on comfort and efficient use of the available space. In response to their needs, the following zones were designed: a large living room with kitchenette, parents’ bedroom, children’s room, two bathrooms and two dressing rooms. To further optimise the interior layout, the designer decided to modify the existing layout. One of the two original bathrooms was replaced by a functional laundry room connected to the dressing room, which naturally introduced order and tidiness. In addition, moving the wall separating the living room from the children’s room made it possible to create more play space for the 7-year-old boy, a fan of LEGO bricks. This change not only allowed him to play freely with his peers, but also made room for an additional wardrobe by the hall.

The focal point of the flat is the spacious living room, which connects the lounge area to the kitchen. The focus here is on the kitchen with an island, which attracts attention with its unique planking motif. This element also appears on the low-hanging cabinets and on the tiles above the worktop. For those investors who did not need a huge table, a folding model was chosen, at which stylish wooden chairs and a bench are placed. The lounge area also features a large corner sofa, ideally positioned opposite the wooden shelving units, creating a cosy and harmonious place to relax.

An interesting and unobvious solution turned out to be the arrangement of the small bathroom. The investors decided to finish the floor of this room with wooden parquet. This choice of material gave the bathroom visual warmth and helped to break away from standard associations with small sanitary rooms.

The main design objective was to create a bright interior, full of natural materials and subtle colour accents. A well-thought-out colour palette, lots of wood and original accessories emphasise the modern character of the flat, while introducing a touch of cosiness. Most of the furniture was custom-made by a carpenter, using oak veneer, which guarantees not only high quality but also stylistic consistency of the entire interior. The exception is the children’s room, where the use of plywood fits perfectly with the dynamic yet functional character of the space intended for the youngest.

The Mokotów flat is an inspiration for anyone wishing to discover new design possibilities and show that functionality can go hand in hand with exceptional design. In an era when every detail matters, such a project proves that a careful approach and the passion of the designer can transform a space, transforming it into a real home full of character, warmth and practical solutions.
