Modern classic in Kazimierz. Flat with a soul in a 16th century tenement house

Krakow, one of the most popular tourist cities in Central Europe, attracts millions of visitors every year. Among them are those who seek not only the sights and attractions, but also comfort and privacy in luxurious surroundings. With such visitors in mind, the Urba Designs team created a unique modern classic style flat located in Kraków’s Kazimierz district – in the heart of the fashionable, historic district that is the quintessence of Kraków’s spirit.

The 85 sqm flat, located in a historic tenement built in the 16th century, has undergone a complete metamorphosis. The flat’s location within walking distance of such city icons as the Wawel Castle, the Main Market Square, the Vistula River boulevards or the Old Podgórze makes it an ideal choice for tourists wishing to soak up the atmosphere of the city while enjoying the comfort of modern amenities.

The modern classic style in which the interior has been maintained is a subtle tribute to the rich history of Kazimierz, combining the elegance of classic forms with modern touches. The layout of the flat has been preserved in its original form, with modern architectural elements – glazing and furniture fittings, which harmoniously divide the space into functional zones. The general renovation included the replacement of all electrical and sanitary installations, as well as the introduction of air conditioning, which raises the standard of the flat’s stay.

Already at the entrance, guests are welcomed by a spacious hall with an adjoining, elegant bathroom. The kitchen area, equipped with a large dining table, provides a central place for meetings and communal meals. An additional seating area, with a sofa bed, can serve as a sleeping area, offering flexible arrangement possibilities. The kitchen has been designed to be as functional as possible, with full appliances, as well as a hidden laundry annex.

The heart of the flat is the spacious living room, which is dominated by a striking modular sofa. From the living room, passageways lead to the two main bedrooms, separated from the rest of the flat by intriguing decorative glazing and a functional wardrobe, divided between the two spaces. Despite the modern glass solutions, the designers took care of the residents’ privacy by introducing curtains, which give the interior a cosy feel and allow individual privacy regulation in the sleeping areas.

The flat is distinguished by the careful selection of materials and colours, creating a coherent and elegant whole. Neutral shades of white, beige and grey predominate, which, combined with dark wood and accents of black, burgundy and gold, give the interior a luxurious feel. The floors are finished with oak planks arranged in a decorative pattern with borders, while the walls and ceilings are decorated with stylish stuccowork that evokes a classic atmosphere. Retro Italian radiators, vintage-style ceramics and gold accents in the bathroom fittings complete the interior, creating a space that is both elegant and functional.

Furnished with short-term rentals or weekend getaways in mind, the flat is the perfect example of combining historic charm with modern luxury. It is a place that offers not only comfortable rest, but also an aesthetic experience, harmoniously blending into the tourist climate of Krakow.
