In the heart of Gdańsk, in the prestigious Brabank development, an exceptional flat designed by Michal Kostuja has been created. Its 88-square-metre space is the quintessence of modern elegance, which harmoniously interacts with one of the most beautiful views of the Motława river and the Gdansk Old Town. It is not only design that plays a key role in this project, but also functionality, whose main objective was to create a space in which the panorama of the city becomes an integral part of the interior.
The view as a design element – a bridge between the interior and the city
Both the location and the view stretching from the flat’s windows were the foundation of the entire project. Michal Kostuj, the author of the concept, had the ambitious aim of creating a space that would by no means overshadow the view of Gdańsk, but would become a sophisticated frame for it. It is worth noting that the entire interior has been designed in such a way that the residents can enjoy the spectacular panorama from almost any place – from the sofa in the living room to the dining room table to the kitchen island.
One of the key solutions used in the design are the mirrors, which optically enlarge the space and multiply the image of the city. They add depth and a sense of spaciousness to the flat, creating an atmosphere full of light and space.
Mid-century elegance with natural materials
In his design, Michal Kostuj focused on timeless elegance, enriched with elements of mid-century style, which blends perfectly with modern accents. The entire interior is based on warm, natural materials such as wood, stone and soft fabrics. Wooden floors and furniture fronts are a leitmotif that brings cosiness and warmth to the interior. Stone worktops in the kitchen and bathrooms and structured wallpaper add elegance to the interior, while heavy curtains and thick fabrics on the sofa or bed create a cosy atmosphere conducive to relaxation.

The master bedroom area – intimacy and comfort in luxury
One of the most important elements of the project was to design a comfortable master bedroom zone. Thanks to modifications to the flat’s original layout, one of the bathrooms was connected to the bedroom, creating a spacious and comfortable relaxation area with a separate dressing room. The intimate character of this area is emphasised by the exotic wallpapers by the Parisian company Ananbo, which appear in both the bedroom and the bathroom.
Functionality and spaciousness – a flat tailored to the needs of the residents
In addition to the aesthetic aspects, the designers paid great attention to the functionality of the space. One of the solutions that improved communication in the flat was to change the corridor. The excessively large space in the original version was utilised by a made-to-measure development, which made room for a laundry function. This solution relieved the burden on the bathrooms and provided a more convenient organisation of the space.
The heart of the flat is the spacious kitchen with an island that seamlessly connects to the dining room. It is an ideal place to cook together and receive guests, and the window open to the panorama allows one to enjoy the view of the Motława River during daily activities. The designer has also provided a functional study, which plays an additional role in this spacious flat.
Interior creation – with details in focus
The colour scheme of the entire interior is based on a subdued colour palette – browns, greens and warm beiges, which create a consistent, elegant atmosphere. In the bathrooms, large-format Kronos Ceramiche tiles have been used, alluding to natural travertine stone, which harmonise perfectly with the rest of the interior.
The furniture and accessories in the flat come from renowned international brands such as Calligaris, Miniforms, &Tradition, Aromas and Marset. Polish production was not left out – the space also features furniture from Aris Concept and a Kler armchair, which bring a local touch to the design. The whole is complemented by carefully selected lighting, which has both a utilitarian and decorative function, bringing a pleasant atmosphere to the interiors.
Summary
The Brabank flat is a perfect example of how combining elegant design with functionality can create a space that not only meets all the requirements of modern residents, but also stands out from other developments. When designing this 88-square-metre flat, Michal Kostuj proved that contemporary interiors can be comfortable, modern and classy – and the view of Gdańsk is the real icing on the cake that makes every day special
