More greenery and a sculpture of aurochs. Wojska Polskiego Square in Turek will undergo a metamorphosis

Wojska Polskiego Square in Turek will soon undergo a major revitalisation. The project, which aims to modernise and refresh the heart of the city, is one of the most important urban development projects in the region. Thanks to cooperation with experienced contractors and meticulous planning, the site will gain a new face, combining modern solutions with respect for the historic space.

Wojska Polskiego Square in Turek – assumptions forrevitalisation

The revitalisation of Wojska Polskiego Square began with design work in February 2024. The first step was the preparation of a concept by the Pikul Architekci studio, which took into account both the needs of the residents and the conservation requirements, as the square is located in a monument protection zone. In May 2024, the project passed the consultation stage with the conservation officer, which was crucial to preserve the historic character of the space. As a result of a tender in which six companies took part, a contractor was selected – SZART Szymon Rąpel from Konin. It is worth noting that this company already has successes to its credit, such as completing the revitalisation of the city park in Turek.

A modern square full of greenery and symbolism

The revitalisation project is primarily about preserving the existing greenery as much as possible and adding significantly to it. Around 40 new trees will be added to the square, giving the place a more ecological and resident-friendly character. In addition, the existing fountain will be rebuilt – a new flat structure with water jets and LED backlighting will create a modern and visually attractive space. One of the most important elements of the new square will be a 1:1 scale sculpture of an aurochs, the symbol of Turek and the animal featured in the city’s coat of arms. The sculpture is intended to emphasise the identity of the place, becoming its business card and an attraction for tourists. The project also includes the installation of new benches, litter bins, an information board and the replacement of the lighting with modern and energy-efficient lighting. All these elements aim to create a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional and safe – to this end, the installation of a monitoring system is also planned.
