Mural in Gdansk with an important message

For several days now, the slogan ‘You’ll never regret the day you stopped drinking’ has been displayed on the wall of one of Gdańsk’s townhouses. The slogan is aimed at people who are at risk of or struggling with alcoholism. The mural in Gdansk is meant to give them courage.

The realisation of the mural was taken care of by the Traffic Design team, which for years has been involved in social initiatives and those that affect the appearance of the Tricity. The mural was also designed by Traffic Design and created with the financial support of private sponsors.

In Poland, the number of alcohol addicts and excessive drinkers ranges from 4 to 5 million, and those in need of treatment from 1 million to 1.2 million. Of these, about 15 per cent are covered by treatment. There are about 12 million* people living within the socially negative consequences of alcoholism. People who want to start treatment are often accompanied by anxiety about what to do next and what their life without drinking will be like, reads the Traffic Design website.

Here, the association cites data from a report by the Polonia Academy in Częstochowa.

The new mural on the wall of a tenement in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz is meant to give courage and encourage people to stay sober. The slogan will be seen by everyone walking along Grunwaldzka Avenue.

The mural has a simple form and is based on gradients. The blue colour merges into white and vice versa. Alongside the aforementioned slogan is another: ‘Seek support from those who succeed’, which urges people to surround themselves with people where those in need will find support.
