A new athletics stadium in Warsaw has been built in Praga-Południe. Treadmills, athletics darts and jumps – this infrastructure can be used by Varsovians and athletes at the modernised Podskarbinska Stadium from today. The new facility was visited today by Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw.
“I am very pleased that in Praga-South, after years of struggle, such a facility has been built. Both Polish championships and international meets will be held here. We are giving a modern sports facility to the residents of the district; it will be used primarily by young people, but also by seniors. I would like to invite all sport enthusiasts to visit the Podskarbińska Stadium in its new version” – said Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of the City of Warsaw, during the visit.
The Podskarbińska Stadium is another Warsaw sports complex that has been restored to its glory after many years. The total cost of the investment was more than PLN 22 million.
As of today, it is already possible to use the new main arena, which features, among others, an eight-lane 400 m long track, seven athletics darts and jumps for high jump, long jump and pole vaulting. The warm-up and training area was also reconstructed. In addition, modern and energy-efficient LED lighting was also installed throughout the stadium.
Thanks to the modernisation, competitions at the level of national championships or International Association of Athletics Federations’ myths can be held here.
It is worth noting that Warsaw has been supporting the development of sport in the city for many years. In addition to many smaller, more local initiatives, the city also relies on the development of large facilities.
