A new cocktail bar in Katowice called ART is the latest project of Krzysztof Ciemier, winner of international bartending competitions, and Monika Kaźmierczak. As the owners say, ART is a combination of flavours, art and craft. What’s more, the owners invited residents of Katowice and artists from the Katowice Academy of Fine Arts to decorate the place. The opening is already on the weekend of 25-27 October.
On the walls, you will find paintings painted by, among others, residents of Katowice during a street happening, sofas sewn from jeans donated on an instagram collection, a bartending “laboratory” and a unique in the country station, behind which will stand bartenders who moved from different corners of Poland for this idea. We are talking about ART, a new venue in Katowice, which is opening on the weekend of 25-27 October.
Krzysztof Ciemiera, winner of international bartending competitions, and Monika Kaźmierczak are behind the project.
“ART was created for people looking for inspiration and good taste, not only in cocktails but also in art. We will regularly host works by local artists inside our bar, as well as organise cultural events such as vernissages, exhibitions and author meetings. In this way, guests will not only be able to enjoy original cocktails, but also to commune with art in a unique environment,” – says Monika Kaźmierczak.
Inside, visitors will be able to see, among other things, works by residents of Katowice, which were created during a street happening, co-created with the Academy of Fine Arts, which preceded the opening of the venue. Other artists who have contributed their paintings include Oliwia Żyłka, Dagmara Rybak, Beata Dencikowska and Konrad Piasecki vel Pepeszenko. Some works were also donated by friends and family of the founders.
The heart of the premises is the bar station, which has been designed so that guests can watch the process of creating cocktails and feel as if they were standing behind the bar themselves. As the creators of ART assure us, the nationally unique open bar station, like an “island” in a home kitchen, is intended to foster a relaxed atmosphere and conversation
with the bartenders.
The station is surrounded by hockers upholstered in denim, which the bar’s founders acquired by organising an online fundraiser. They were also used to upholster the lodges.
These are not the only surprises awaiting guests. Also worthy of special mention is the “ART lab”, or laboratory. Cocktails will be served to guests in unobvious compositions giving them a unique character and appearance. The drinks menu will be variable, but as the creators of ART assure, it will always refer to art, including tattoo art, design, photography or fashion.
The quality of the cocktails will be taken care of by Krzysztof Ciemiera with his team of bartenders. Periodically, top bartenders from Poland and the best bars from abroad are to appear behind the bar station.
“ART is a place where I would like everyone to feel at ease and be able to relax after a hard week at work. The idea of an open station is to break down barriers and be an expression of openness. The name of the cocktail bar was not chosen at random either. Apart from the obvious meaning, the word art hides for us in key words such as bartender, heart, party, values, earth but also in many others, which we will refer to during the cyclical events and actions. I think it is worth going off the beaten track, and looking at the interaction and reception of the people of Katowice and Silesia, I am sure we will build a great community! – says Krzysztof Ciemiera.
The venue is scheduled to open on the weekend of 25 – 27 October. ART’s doors will open for the first time on Friday, 25 October at 6 p.m. The venue is located at 33 Warszawska Street in Katowice.
