New drinking troughs in Warsaw. Their shape is reminiscent of the so-called “Thick Cash”

Their presence will be particularly appreciated by residents on hot days. New drinking troughs have been set up in Warsaw, which can also be used by animals. The drinking troughs have appeared in seven districts of the city, and their shape is reminiscent of the city’s well, the so-called ‘Gruba Kaśka’.

The watering holes have a slender form with a tap on top. Interestingly, there is a bowl at the bottom that allows dogs to drink the water. The look of the devices was developed as part of a competition announced by the city, together with the Warsaw Branch of SARP and the Bęc Zmiana Foundation. Their shape is reminiscent of a ‘Fat Tin’.

Gruba Kaśka is an infiltration well and underwater water intake located in the Vistula riverbed in Warsaw. It is the only facility in Europe located directly in the river’s current, using a natural infiltration process. Gruba Kaśka draws water from 15 radially arranged drains, submerged 4-8 m below the bottom.

The idea to set up new drinking troughs in the streets of Warsaw came from the Civic Budget. The project received a lot of support from residents, so it was implemented.
