The new terminal at Szczecin-Goleniów airport was designed by architects from the DEDECO studio. Work on its construction began at the beginning of November. The timetable assumes that passengers will be able to make full use of the new infrastructure by the end of 2027.
It is a modern, modernist block that meets the needs of a regional airport. The new passenger terminal at Szczecin airport will be built by Doraco, which was granted access to the construction site on the third of November.
A temporary 700sq m arrivals terminal will be built first. Interestingly, this temporary terminal will not be demolished on completion of the entire project, but will serve as a social facility with office space. It will be used by the services operating at Szczecin airport. The temporary arrivals terminal will be visually linked to the main body of the airport. The temporary terminal is due to be built in April/May 2026.
The next step will be the demolition of the current arrivals terminal and the building used by airport services. It will not be until mid-2026 that work will begin on the construction of the departures terminal with facilities.
The new facility was designed by architects from the Szczecin-Warsaw studio DEDECO. This is an experienced studio that has been operating in Poland for more than 30 years. The conceptual design for the redevelopment of Szczecin-Goleniów Airport involves the construction of a passenger terminal with a total area of 20,000 square metres. Such an area of the building will ultimately make it possible to serve up to 2 million passengers a year. This is a visionary approach, as in 2024, Szczecin’s port served less than 500,000 travellers.

We are proposing a modern, energy-autonomous facility using renewable energy sources that fully meets the needs for heating, cooling and electricity. Energy self-sufficiency or low-energy will be achieved through, among other things, the use of ground-source heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, recuperation systems and advanced management of ventilation, heating and cooling systems, ‘ the architects from the DEDECO studio write on their website.
Their proposed design involves dividing the building into two storeys. The ground floor with the main lobby will be 6 metres high, with check-in, security control and baggage reclaim areas. On the upper floor, retail and catering areas and a waiting area at the gates are planned. The building’s surroundings will also change, with new greenery, parking spaces and lighting.
The new passenger terminal at Szczecin airport will be built without closing down traffic. The airport authorities ensure that the works carried out will not affect passenger comfort and service. The new terminal is due to open at the end of 2027.
