A tender has been announced for the preparation of a project to rebuild Pulawska Street in Warsaw’s Mokotow district, with the aim of creating a more pedestrian and cyclist-friendly space. Currently, the street is characterised by a three-lane carriageway and narrow pavements occupied by parked cars, and the last major reconstruction took place in the 1990s. The future project involves significant changes to the section between Goworka and Dolna Streets. Pulawska is to completely change its face.
The comprehensive modernisation of Puławska aims to reconcile the needs of all users of the street, which requires significant reconstruction. Plans include the relocation of kerbs, lamp posts and other infrastructure, including underground. The investment, estimated to cost several million zlotys, is likely to take at least a year and cause significant traffic impediments.

According to the city’s plans, work on the modernisation of Puławska Street will begin after the construction of the track on Rakowiecka Street is completed, which is planned for the summer of 2025. Thanks to additional funding of PLN 800,000 allocated by the Warsaw City Council, design work can begin now, allowing a quick tender for the work to be carried out once the tramway investment is completed.
The redevelopment also involves changes to the road layout, including the removal of one lane in favour of wider pavements with more greenery and a separated cycleway. The plans also include new pedestrian crossings and the modernisation of traffic lights at several intersections, which is expected to improve the safety and comfort of users of this important Warsaw arterial.
The tender will be open until 6 September and, once the contractor has been selected, the company will have 24 months to develop the project from the signing of the contract.
