New Tubądzin x Nawer collections. From chaos, art is born!

When entering an interior covered with the new Tubądzin x Nawer collections, one can feel how the space ceases to be just a background – it becomes an instrument. The WHITE_NOISE collection acts as a calming breath after an information rush, the designed surface looks like crumpled paper that traps light, while MODULAR_GLITCH is a set for creative design work, consisting of fragments that allow you to rearrange the rhythm of the wall like notes on a score.

Łukasz Habiera, known as NAWER, is an artist whose practice originates in street art but is increasingly finding its way into interiors. His work balances between randomness and geometry, between impulse and plan. In his dialogue with ceramics, Nawer transfers the language of digital distortions and analogue traces to the surface of the tiles. This is how a project is created that treats the tile as a narrative medium, an element of architectural composition and a story about the rhythm of contemporary life.

The collections presented were created as part of Tubądzin Meets Art, a platform where the Tubądzin Group creates unique collections of tiles designed by recognised Polish artists. From collaboration with Wojciech Siudmak or Maciej Zień to artistic dialogues with Ania Rudak and Dorota Koziara. The group also collaborates with cultural institutions, such as the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and the Royal Łazienki Park, where it presents the effects of its artistic collaboration. The latest installment of Tubądzin Meets Art are two collections created in collaboration with Nawer.

Working with new mediums and technologies is always a challenge, but also a way out of my comfort zone. We meet on a platform that I have not yet worked on, and the experienced background that the Tubądzin brand has at its disposal shows that we are only limited by our imagination,” says Łukasz Habiera.

WHITE_NOISE

The first of the new collections is WHITE_NOISE. It is a series that interprets silence as an active state, as ‘white noise’ that helps to integrate information overload. The surface, inspired by crumpled paper, is arranged in delicate, unpredictable refractions. Light scatters on them differently throughout the day and the texture changes with the angle of view, offering subtle variation instead of static ornament. WHITE_NOISE does not compete with the interior; it complements it, creating a meditative background that soothes and organises the space. Blissful tranquillity can be felt from the first glance. Where did the idea for this form come from?

When looking for a visual answer to the interpretation of noise as a sketch and after rejecting many concepts, I found it in the simplest form – bending and straightening a sheet of paper. The minimalism of the use of tools provided the opportunity to transfer this pure form to ceramics. After many attempts, we achieved a result that is surprising, quiet but unobtrusive to the eye. I would say strongly conceptual, but also avant-garde in its own way,” explains NAWER.

This search for the simplest form has given the WHITE_NOISE collection an authenticity and subtlety that is evident in every detail.

MODULAR_GLITCH

The MODULAR_GLITCH collection stands out with a completely different aesthetic. On the surface of the panels, the artist transfers the aesthetics of error and digital displacement into a modular system. Geometric elements combine to form sequences that the user can reconfigure to create their own rhythmic systems. The glitch motif here is not a one-off effect; it becomes a structural rule: repetition is consciously disrupted, line loses predictability and the composition begins to pulsate. The collection gives interiors a kinetic and futuristic splatter of elegance, in which error becomes an aesthetic with great design potential. Have you watched the series Foundation? This collection could certainly adorn the interiors of many of the villas shown in the series.

The collection captures the spirit of NAWER’s work. It gives interior designers the opportunity to be creative in the interiors they design. The modules can be moved without losing cohesion. The graphic elements on the panels have been positioned in such a way as to guarantee a match whatever the configuration. The system has an open character – it is the basis on which unique compositions and personal spatial variations are created.

NAWER and the MODULAR_GLITCH collection

I put myself in the role of an architect-artist and thought about what tools I would like to use when arranging. This gave rise to the idea of transforming one of my original painting techniques based on the ability to move the modules in any way I wanted,” he explains.

For NAWER, ‘error’ and ‘disruption’ are not a defect to be eliminated, but a source of authenticity. Inspiration drawn from the phenomena of glitching and banding has proved to be a rich field for the exploration of both colour and form. In his perspective, error is a human trait – an element that gives identity and reminds us that nothing has to be perfect to be beautiful. In the context of a utilitarian product, this philosophy opens up the field to objects that are designed not only to function, but also to provoke, engage and tell a story.

The collection was premiered at Cersaie 22-25 September in Bologna, Italy. Its presentation is a clear signal that Tubądzin not only responds to current trends, but creates them. Inviting an artist to collaborate allowed Tubądzin to break the moulds and offer collections that provide completely new design possibilities. Ceramics ceases to merely decorate surfaces and begins to shape the way we experience the surrounding interior.
