The Loop single-family house appears to be immersed in the earth and fused with nature. The Mobius architecture studio is responsible for the building’s design. The house has been designed in such a way that it looks different from all sides. Seen from above, it looks like a grand villa, while from ground level it can appear as an inconspicuous cottage.
The design of the building is a manifestation of contemporary architecture in harmony with nature. In this way, the architect wants to bring nature closer to its inhabitants. The project is a clear sign of a return to the roots, to the idea of symbiosis between man and the surrounding landscape.
The Loop House is distinguished by its well thought-out composition. Although simple at first glance, the body of the building is based on a sophisticated geometry that alludes to the shape of a loop. This closed yet flowing motif reflects the philosophy of the continuum – the idea of a continuous cycle in which there is no beginning and no end, and everything exists in harmony and interpenetration.
The clever positioning of the building ensures that the edifice fits perfectly into the natural terrain. The house stands on a vast plot of land that resembles an inaccessible oasis. The main compositional axis is the lake, which becomes a natural extension of the living space.
The architect chose to use a building form that opens each of the rooms to the surrounding landscape through gentle folds. As a result, the occupants can enjoy incredible views from everywhere in the house – from the tranquil meadows and the surface of the water, to the majestic forests in the distance. Life here is lived in direct contact with nature. Sunrises and sunsets, changing weather, mists hovering over the lake – all become an integral part of the investors’ experience. From every corner of the house, it is possible to admire these changing yet constant phenomena, which remind us of the cyclical nature and power of nature. This arrangement of space is not only aesthetically delightful, but also conducive to reflection, relaxation and inner tranquillity.
With a building area of over 800 sq m (! (!), despite its considerable size, the architecture of the house appears subtle and delicate. From the street, the house almost disappears into the landscape, thanks to its clever composition and choice of materials. From a distance, it appears hidden, as if it does not want to impose its presence while respecting its surroundings. However, this is only a pretense, as a closer look reveals that the volume of the building almost levitates above the site. This gives it a lightness and elegance.
The architect chose to elevate the structure above the ground, which not only emphasises the modern character of the design, but also creates a space below the building that encourages natural airflow and minimises interference with the terrain. On the lake side, on the other hand, the house opens up completely, presenting its true face – large, panoramic windows and glazing create the impression that the building becomes almost transparent, allowing uninterrupted contact with nature. In this way, the indoor and outdoor spaces intermingle, creating a coherent whole that promotes harmonious living in harmony with the surroundings,” reads the description.
The minimalist effect was achieved with the right materials. The façade is made of stone and wood, which blend well with the surrounding landscape. In some parts, the building is decorated with corten. Some of the walls were deliberately covered with vines, which further emphasises the organic character of the building and makes the building almost blend in with the surrounding plants. Interestingly, plants also grow on the roofs, and their presence helps regulate temperature and rainwater retention.
The building has been equipped with modern technology. Photovoltaics, a heat pump or an intelligent management system make the space combine tradition and modernity.
